A functionary told me the following: 1. Italy abstained in the 29500 votation because couldn't get a consensus among its members about the MS standard. Actually UNISO members are equally distribuited among Microsoft's and IBM's areas, and for this reason Italy voted "abstained". 2. They don't know anything about South Africa complain. The persons told me that from the ISO they haven't received any communication yet about that. 3. Anyway, because of the abstain cast, UNISO isn't going to say nothing in this stuff. 4. UNISO is participating in the process of getting a better 29500 standard. 5. Italian government hasn't expressed anything about the whole question, delegating totally to UNISO. I think we should at least ask our government to express Italy's point of view about this question.
