Is your logic that EMC (which is primarily a storage vendor) is going to dilute the value of VMware because they are Microsoft's 2008 Partner of the Year? Or is it you think an ex-Microsoft employee (who just happens to have experience in developing an marketing one of the most successful operating systems of all time: Windows NT) is going to somehow make VMware more "Microsoft-centric" because of his heritage (vs. his paycheck). I love the FOSS madness sometimes. Everyone celebrates these FOSS initiatives (Xen, SUSE) until a company finds a way to commercialize them (Citrix, Novell) and all the sudden those same products become evil. And God-forbid any company should have anything to do with the ultimate-evil, Microsoft. Then you shall certainly be banished to blog flame hell. Here's an idea how about we let EMC run VMware they think is most profitable, and if we don't like it - we don't buy it. That's easy...
