A 650MB CD can only hold so much redundancy.  

We&#039;ll find that a lot of useful but low profile packages have been removed to make room for the 100&#039;s of megabytes used by mono and the mono-based packages that duplicate the functions of existing packages.  

Just like with a Wikipedia article,  MS is able to dilute a full distro.  We can make room for more functionality to the basic installation CD by clearing away mono and its dependent packages .</description>
