Did Novell Quietly Sack Over 100 People?

Posted in Interview, Novell at 12:44 pm by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

Novell is shrinking

NOVELL, Inc. (Nasdaq:NOVL), a worldwide leader in selfishness, backstabbing and hypocrisy. closed some offices across Europe recently and the last question in a new interview with Volker Smid goes like this:

Like many IT suppliers, you recently cut a number of jobs. Are any further redundancies likely?

There will be no more redundancies. We are running a workforce of 4,000 down from 4,100 despite making two acquisitions in the meantime. We have looked at the economy and have done what we needed to do.

We mentioned Volker Smid before, especially because he calls Microsoft “a partner” [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. He was appointed President of Novell EMEA [1, 2] almost exactly 2 years ago.

Posted in Patents, Videos at 10:02 am by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

We showed this man before and we recently wrote about Yahoo's patents. It has just come to our attention that he’s leaving, so here he is again, explaining what patent trolls are.

Update: this is now confirmed and corroborated.

Joseph Siino, the lawyer who built Yahoo Inc.’s intellectual property department, is leaving the struggling search giant.

Yahoo has lost a number of executives this year, its stock continues to slump, and it began the process of laying off 1,500 workers last week.

Whilst EMC spreads the Microsoft Movement

USS Towers - sinking

AFTER 15 LONG YEARS in this bad company, the man leaves abruptly (with advance notification), joining the ranks of many others.

Bill Shaughnessy is leaving his post as global VP-sales, marketing and services for Microsoft. He is expected to continue working at the company through March. It’s unclear if or how Microsoft will replace him or what Mr. Shaughnessy’s next move is.

Also unclear is why Mr. Shaughnessy is leaving; he is a 15-year veteran of Microsoft who, before leading ad sales, was general manger of product management for MSN’s communications services, such as Hotmail, Messenger and MSN Spaces. He has also worked in ad operations and, before joining MSN in 1998, and held marketing stints for Windows.

EMC, Microsoft’s Partner of the Year 2008, has meanwhile put yet another former Microsoft employee in charge of a subsidiary.

EMC said Tuesday that it had appointed Harel Kodesh as president of its Seattle-based subsidiary, Decho.

It is important to remember how EMC installed a former Microsoft executive inside VMware while expelling its former leadership [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]. EMC did this in a very disgusting way.
