Australian Tax Office May Dump Novell
Summary: NSW tax office is looking for a GroupWise replacement
GroupWise is losing business quicker than it gains any. Here is a new report which suggests that Novell will almost certainly be dumped. It is not known yet which product will replace Novell’s GroupWise, but NSW makes another mistake [1, 2] by sending communication to be parsed and spied on by another company.
Microsoft’s BPOS (business productivity suite) and Google Apps on trial to potentially replace the OSR’s in-house Novell GroupWise system.

Although they might like to think it sometimes, the state of New South Wales != Australia. The headline sounds rather like ‘Australian Taxation Office’ which is the federal tax office, and a quite separate org.
Govt orgs are notoriously bad at selecting IT – mostly it is based on middle managers’ free tickets to the rugby or corporate boxes at a street-circuit car race.
It does seem a rather risky cost-cutting exercise however you look at it.

I guess writing “An Australian Tax Office” would be better.
