SUSE’s Markus Rex Leaves Novell
Collaboration Summit/ELC Joint Reception. Markus Rex is on the right.
Summary: One of the key people of SUSE (and maybe #1 in the chain of command) is leaving
AS testament to the problem SUSE may be in, consider the quiet departure of Markus Rex, who said that buyout of SUSE was “the big elephant in the room.” Some suspect that SUSE is about to be bought and guess when Mr. Rex is leaving? It’s the timing that matter.
Indeed, Markus has been ‘overseeing’ the SuSE engineering effort in one way or another since 1999 or so.
He has stayed through fun times and thin times, and while I was not around to watch his actions, I can only assume that he was an important player in that endeavor.
He probably isn’t leaving because of technical issues. Maybe he knows something that others do not. █
