What Else is New
SpyHome: Enemy of Your Freedom
There's a renewed discussion or debate about so-called "smarthomes" (SpyHomes) because some gullible Microsofter put 'smart' things all over his own home and his own devices stopped working due to alleged racism

Government Contracting/Collaboration With the Private Sector is Neither an Excuse Nor Cover for Defrauding Workers
The accountability for crimes of Sirius ‘Open Source’ will require government intervention, i.e. law enforcement and courts’ involvement; based on what we’ve witnessed so far, the British government would rather ignore crimes that involve its frequent contractor for Free software projects
The Name Linux Misused by People Who Never Even Used It
Residing in one of the world’s most expensive office spaces we have hundreds of people and dozens of millionaires who made a living by misappropriating the “Linux” brand — promoted endlessly by millions of volunteers around the world for over 30 years (those promoters actually used Linux, they didn’t just exploit the name)
Self-Hosting of Videos is the Way Forward
Looking back at 9 parts, this tenth part suggests self-hosting one's videos; outsourcing isn't the way to go, especially not outsourcing to monopolies

After Microsoft GitHub Sells (Shuts Down) Key Offices LinkedIn Does the Same
There are many further rounds of layoffs at Microsoft or its flailing subsidiaries this year and even whole offices get shut down (including a campus in Redmond, Microsoft's heart and centre); today we learned about LinkedIn not only having many further rounds of layoffs (it had gone on for 3 years already); entire offices are shut down (same thing that happened in GitHub, where several rounds of layoffs happened so far this year [1, 2]); “It’s not a new thing,” an associate remarks, but the Microsoft-sponsored media barely bothers covering this (too busy and infatuated with buzzwords/chatbots/hype campaigns for distraction, some allege a valuation pump and dump), which means one comes to rely on estate sites to mention such suppressed facts which matter a lot
Police Out of Control (or Oversight) – Part 9: Waiting for Godot
Today we conclude this week’s series, which explained how Sirius isn’t just funded by the British government but is also protected by the British government; HMRC is not responding to fraud reports (sent exactly 4 weeks ago) and Action Fraud, overseen by a client of Sirius (since 2013), does not seem to have even opened the Pension Fraud complaint (it sent a template response after exactly 4 weeks)
The Real Linux Foundation - Part 10: An 'International' Collaboration Organisation (for 'International' Projects) Where 90% of the Money is Spent in the United States
The Linux Foundation is not an international body by any stretch of imagination; it devotes only 0.375% of its annual budgets to Central and South American countries while almost all of its money is spent in the US, increasingly via dubious contractors (probably no-bid contracts for friends, former staff etc.)

Police Out of Control (or Oversight) - Part 8: Working as Contractor for the Public Sector While Defrauding and Stealing From Staff
Contractors may seem glowingly popular at the Linux Foundation; but what does contracting mean for corporate liability?
Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 9: Name Your Poison
Poisonous video hosting (and sharing) platforms need to be avoided; YouTube is fast becoming one of the least desirable options, for reasons covered thus far in this week-long series
The Real Linux Foundation - Part 9: Use of Contractors Soared From 12 to 29 in Just Three Years, Value of Contracts Has Gone Up by a Lot
The Linux Foundation must be spending tens of millions of dollars on contractors, so what does its own staff do all day long?
HMRC: 4 Weeks Have Passed and It Did Not Even Respond to Report of Tax Fraud at Sirius 'Open Source', a UK Government Contractor
The tax crimes of Sirius ‘Open Source’ were reported to His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, or HMRC, and by all indications it has no interest in enforcing tax laws here, as the political agenda may not align
Gemini Protocol: Always Growing (the Reach, Not the Complexity)
The state of Gemini, which turns 4 in 4 days from now, is very good; this month we serve about 20,000 requests/pages per day over gemini://

Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 8: YouTube, Google, and Alphabet as the West's Political Opportunists and Enemies of Public Health
Following the ‘lead’ of Fentanylware (Bytedance/TikTok), YouTube has become a large hosting platform for “#shorts” and it is in a position to promote self-harm or harm to one’s surroundings, based on one's geography
The Real Linux Foundation - Part 8: Example of Outsourcing to Contractors (Likely Without Tender/Bidding)
The Linux Foundation fancies giving contracts to entities outside the Foundation; they don’t seem to be doing much except bagging that money

Why You Should Quit YouTube - Part 7: The 'Creators' as the Enemies of YouTube
'Creators' in YouTube are basically serfs and even so-called 'influencers' gradually find out that revenue prospects were at best temporary; on top of this there's a lot of censorship without due process
The Real Linux Foundation - Part 7: Giving Large Contracts to Former Staff (Yes, Corruption and Graft)
The Linux Foundation has limitless examples of people who used to work for the Foundation, then left to create their own “business”, in turn getting a contract with the Foundation, enjoying a flow of money (probably without tenders and bidding, it’s all nepotism with no competitive bids)
Police Out of Control (or Oversight) - Part 7: Six Months After Sirius 'Open Source' Gave the Victims of Its Crimes a Chance to 'Cool Off'
Six months ago Sirius ‘Open Source’ had the audacity to tell people whom it robbed that they need to “cool off” (no such obligation); imagine a rapist telling the victim to just “chill”; today we revisit the matter
Flatpak Should Really Have Been Named Fatpack
Today we revisit packaging and distribution the "container" way (bloat, blob, not even a new concept as these used to be dubbed "appliances", not "apps"); the general verdict is that Fatpacks/Flatpaks are a GNOME/Red Hat (now IBM, but this predates the takeover bid by a couple of years) power play if not vendor lock-in by centralisation and standard-setting. Efficiency isn't among the goals and it is often falsely marketed.
