THERE is this odd tendency to assume Microsoft is "professional" and "diverse" and "tolerant" and whatnot. This is based on sheer propaganda and misconception (there have been many lawsuits against Microsoft for xenophobia, sexism, homophobia and so on).

A reader has highlighted to us this Student Toolkit [PDF] regarding ICE. It names Microsoft, Salesforce and others. "You have got to see the cover page," said the anonymous reader, "Lots of good stuff, but check that out."

To quote: "ICE conducts raids and arrests people en masse from workplaces, schools, homes, shops, restaurants — anywhere inside the country immigration agents might track them. ICE has a sprawling network of detention centers housing tens of thousands of asylum-seekers and migrants, often in deplorable conditions. CBP works at the border, turning migrants back and maintaining camps that house thousands of newly-arrived people. Both are part of the Department of Homeland Security, and both have a lot of allies in Silicon Valley, including Palantir, Amazon, Thomson-Reuters, LexisNexis, Microsoft and Salesforce." ⬆
