Techrights is International

Exposing abuse of power, which is almost inevitable, wherever it exists

Royal Guard

Summary: The Techrights team has grown in recent years and it is not limited to any particular nation (unlike the FSFE for example); we try to deal with universal issues, especially technical ideas, rather than particular nations and their politics

THE idea that Techrights is British or European is mostly misguided. As the history of the site shows, we have people everywhere, the hosting is done from outside Europe, and monitoring happens/focuses on multiple continents. I am merely the primary editor and yes, I'm based in Manchester (for over two decades), but it's wrong to assume that we somehow limit ourselves to any single country or continent. We never did. Before focusing on the EPO we wrote a great deal about American patents and USPTO affairs, especially those connected to frivolous lawsuits.

"During weekends we take advantage of India's English-speaking press still being active (especially Sundays). In many ways it is a lot more objective than Western media, which grew increasingly divisive in recent years (clickbait and agenda/marketing rather than accuracy)."The site is composed with English as the main language (translations aside), so it is expected that English-speaking reports and affairs (or people) will be covered more often than something about China or Russia. India has a lot going on, especially when it comes to software. Many of our readers come from there, but rarely do we get translations from those dialects. During weekends we take advantage of India's English-speaking press still being active (especially Sundays). In many ways it is a lot more objective than Western media, which grew increasingly divisive in recent years (clickbait and agenda/marketing rather than accuracy).
