Gemini May Already Be Going 'Mainstream' (But the Media Isn't Talking About It)

Summary: Judging by the way things are going this year, sooner or later the media won't be able to ignore gemini:// and GNU/Linux distros will be asked by users to add Gemini clients/browsers to repositories

LAST NIGHT we wrote about Gemini's fast growth (at least as far as we're concerned). We expect next month to show further growth in the number of unique users and page requests. We also know about some projects that work on migrating to Gemini. As we showed last night (it's also covered in the video above), the number of Gemini capsules grew about 50% in the past 4-5 months. Earlier today someone announced an "Upcoming Gemini Presentation, Brussels" (there was one in FOSDEM too). "Mid-September," it says, "Im [sic] doing an introductory presentation (~ 1 hour), as part of Sofware [sic] Freedom Day - at HSBXL, Brussels. ALL WELCOME."

Some people hoped to arrange similar events in Bay Area (SF), but the pandemic keeps getting in the way. No doubt the number of software tools, servers, and users is growing fast. Why isn't the media covering this? Sure, some blogs mention it here and there... but the mainstream/corporate media refuses to say anything that can help. So it is a grassroots effort, for now...
