Summary: Layoffs at Microsoft are picking up pace again; it should be strongly emphasised that the media keeps parroting some old number ("10,000") when based on a running tally we expect Microsoft may have already handed pink slips to about 30,000 workers this year (or arranged with them to leave, perhaps drove them out and signaled to them it's time to "retire" as that's classified differently and more favourably)
