schestowitz[TR2]Trump said he is using some H1-B visa holders in his companies... Like where? Most, if not all H1-B visas are issued to IT folks... What a joke!Jan 02 03:43

schestowitz[TR2]This H1-B visa program is a total joke and quite disgusting... Go ask the Indians working in IT... they are essentially slaves who have to work 12-14 hours a day (including weekends) and are paid really badly with no raises at all. They have no choice to work like dogs to hope that after 3 years their currently employer will do the paperwork to renew their H1-B. In the meantime, this is lowering down the salaries for the IT professJan 02 03:43

schestowitz[TR2]You raise an interesting point about charging a tariff of 15.3% for H1B visas. How about making it a standard $1 million charge for each H1B visa and then seeing if the big companies wanting these H1B visas will continue request them or do something else ? I suspect that the H1B abuse will likely stop when they see the $1 million price tag - then again, who knows ?Jan 02 03:43
schestowitz[TR2]I've seen lots of threats from companies promising to hire H1B folks to work in Canada over the years - how much of that is true or not ? Just asking.....Jan 02 03:43

schestowitz[TR2]Since H1B visa’s only apply to the USA, perhaps you should tariff services coming into the USA subject to the social part of the employment equation (medicare and social security). That would be approx 15.3%. It kinda makes sense since they are displacing local workers.Jan 02 03:43

schestowitz[TR2]                                        <p>There was a recent discussion about how Linux's “Fixes” tag, which traditionally uses the 12 character commit SHA prefix, has an ever increasing chance of collisions. There are already 11-character collisions, and Geert wanted to raise the minimum short id to 16 characters. This was met with push-back for various reasons. One aspect that bothered me was some people still treating this Jan 02 10:42
schestowitz[TR2]like a theoretical “maybe in the future” problem. To clear up that problem, I generated a 12-character prefix collision against the start of Git history, commit 1da177e4c3f4 (“Linux-2.6.12-rc2”), which shows up in “Fixes” tags very often: [...] </p>Jan 02 10:42
