Reading your comments in this thread, I cannot help but feel some of the same frustration that occasionally spills over in comments from other participants here.

Every time this topic comes up for debate you simply repeat your mantra about Article 84, second sentence. But nobody, absolutely nobody, here is advocating for the abolition of that sentence, or for it to be ignored. They are simply advocat [03:19] schestowitz[TR] ing a different interpretation of it.

Simply repeating your mantra is not helping to further the debate. What we want to understand better is why you feel that your interpretation of Article 84 is the right one. Simply repeating that, in effect, "it is right because I say so, and I declare that there is nothing more to say" is not conducive to moving the debate forwards.

I must also express my [03:19] schestowitz[TR] frustration that, rather than engaging in good faith with any of the points raised by others, virtually every one of your comments engages in evasion by seeking to change the subject, going off on a tangent, imputing bad motives to people who disagree with you, turning into a finger-wagging lecture, or resorting to a pronouncement ex officio that the debate is closed.

Perhaps this passes for an acceptable standard [03:19] schestowitz[TR] of debate in political circles, and maybe even within the upper circles of the EPO, but I personally had hoped that higher standards might prevail here. [03:19] schestowitz[TR] [03:19] schestowitz[TR] [03:19] schestowitz[TR] Dear Proof of the pudding,

My reply will be very short: the day national courts will be forced to take into account what has been said or decided by the EPO and its boards of appeal, pigs will fly. The same applies in the other direction.

National courts can adopt the views of the boards or they cannot agree with them and leave them aside. There are even national courts claiming that they appl [03:19] schestowitz[TR] y the case law of the EBA, but do exactly the opposite in the same breath!

I am still awaiting to see one decision of a national court which corresponds to the fears you refer to.

The analogy with the fears of British representatives about the limitations induced by reference signs in the claims is flagrant.

Art 84, second sentence, requires consistency between the claims as granted and/or maintaine [03:19] schestowitz[TR] d. What is there wrong with this?

We are really turning in circles. It does not bring anything to continue discussing this topic. The topic was already exhausted when discussing T 3097/19 in the present and in another blog.

Building a capable robot is only half of the battle. To take advantage of that robot, youll need a good way to control it. When it makes sense, you can pre-program movements. But when you want to control a robot in real time, you need suitable controller. Conventional joysticks and gamepads dont translate well to robot arm movement, which is why Jelle Vermandere built a miniature robo [06:59] schestowitz[TR] t arm to control a larger robot arm.

    Slimbook Titan, Kubuntu, backup, encryption
    [07:38] schestowitz[TR]
    [07:38] schestowitz[TR]

At risk of repeating myself, here's a brief intro to this article. I got meself a new laptop, one Slimbook Titan. Then, I spent some time configuring it, tested software and some games, and now we're here, tweaking and having fun. Thus, I need to make the system robust and resilient, and that means backups.

    [07:38] schestowitz[TR]

Of all the things you will ever do on a computer, having a proven, reliable backup strategy is the most important one. Without backups, you're at the mercy of silicon, solder and plastic going bust. My Titan comes with two hard disks, two 1TB NVMe drives to be more precise. The first one is used for the operating system. The second hasn't even been formatted just yet. We will do that now. A [07:38] schestowitz[TR] nd then some.

As reported last week, Meta switched the legal basis for targeting advertising from one illegal practice to the next: Instead of giving users a yes / no option ("consent") as foreseen by the GDPR, Meta now (unlawfully) claims to have legitimate interest in tracking users and allows for an "opt-out" via the most complicated online form imaginable. Therefore, noyb built a tool f [07:54] schestowitz[TR] or users to opt out of targeted advertising and various other claims made by Meta in an easy and legally sound way.

The imaginary world of Earth4Alls low population projections
    [08:14] schestowitz[TR]

I have two main concerns with the Earth4All population projection. Firstly, it uses GDP per person as the main driver of fertility levels. Secondly, it is even worse at describing recent reality than the UNs model. Together, these issues place it firmly in the realm of fairy tale.

    [08:16] schestowitz[TR]

The topic of this blog post is not directly related to red teaming (which is my usual go-to), but something I find important personally. Last month, I gave an info session at a local elementary school to highlight the risks of public sharing of childrens pictures at school. They decided that instead of their photos being publicly accessible, changes would be implemented to restrict acces [08:16] schestowitz[TR] s to a subset of people. However, there are many more instances of excessive sharing of information online; photographers portfolios, youth/sports clubs, sharenting on social media, etc.
