Double Debian update: 11.11 and 12.7 arrive at once

The end of August saw two new point upgrades for Debian fans. The project published updates for two separate releases: one for Bookworm in the form of Debian 12.7, and, on the same day, the last for Bullseye with Debian 11.11.

How to Install Moodle LMS on Ubuntu 24.04 Server
    [13:22] schestowitz[TR2]
    [13:22] schestowitz[TR2]

Moodle is a popular open-source platform used by educational institutions worldwide for creating online courses, managing content, and facilitating collaborative learning. Running Moodle on Ubuntu is a common choice due to Ubuntu's stability, security, and support for a wide range of software packages. The process involves installing necessary components like Apache or Nginx as the web ser [13:22] schestowitz[TR2] ver, MySQL or PostgreSQL as the database, and PHP as the scripting language, all of which are well-supported on Ubuntu. This setup allows institutions to create a robust, scalable, and customizable online learning environment that can be tailored to specific educational needs.

KDE Dolphin cannot compress compressed files
    [13:36] schestowitz[TR2]
    [13:36] schestowitz[TR2]

How many zips could a file manager zip if a file manager could zip some zips? All right, here's a possibly pointless scenario for you. Say you have a compressed archive of some kind (zip, 7z, tar, rar, whatever), and you want to create a new archive, using the existing one as a source. For instance, you have a file called dedo.zip and you wish to "compress" it further into dedo2.7z [13:36] schestowitz[TR2] .

    [13:36] schestowitz[TR2]

If you ask around, you will realize that multi-level compression doesn't necessarily have any benefits. Depending on the scenario, the file format, and the compression algorithm, your second-level archive may in fact be larger than the source, and if you also use encryption, in some scenarios, you might even degrade the security this way. But I'm not here to change the world, I'm [13:36] schestowitz[TR2] here to solve a simple issue. Plasma's file manager, Dolphin, does not seem to be able to create multi-level archives. If you select a compressed file, right click, there won't be an option to compress, only extract. All right, so how do you work around that, then? Today's article shall reveal.

How to use Proton VPN port forwarding
    [13:37] schestowitz[TR2]
    [13:37] schestowitz[TR2]

If you use Proton VPN with the paid plan, you have access to their port forwarding feature. It allows you to expose a TCP and/or UDP port of your machine on the public IP of your current VPN connection.

    [13:37] schestowitz[TR2]

This can be useful for multiple use cases, let's see how to use it on Linux and OpenBSD.
