[09:40] schestowitz[TR2][09:40] schestowitz[TR2]Rough start. Very much so. A time travel back into the past, but not in a good way, if you will. I was not very happy the first time I tried Kubuntu 24.04. The distro felt extremely unpolished. Just a few weeks later, the distro had a major update, and along the way, a good few dozen bugs and issues went away. Rather quickly, Kubuntu became reasonably pleasant to use. You could say, just w [09:40] schestowitz[TR2] ait a few months. Or you could say, don't release the distro when it's not ready, just wait a few months. 24.07 or 24.09 sounds just as good as any other sequence of numbers, as long as the user experience is great. No one ever said, oh, I don't want to use that particular version, the numbers are all wrong.

However, the new Atomic Desktops brand comes alongside it, which unifies all of Fedoras rpm-ostree-based (immutable) spins under one umbrella and introduces several exciting updates in its version 41. So, lets take a look at whats new.

[11:52] schestowitz[TR2][11:52] schestowitz[TR2]The most notable addition in the new release is the introduction of Wayland sessions through its new component, lxqt-wayland-session. And guess what? LXQt now supports seven different Wayland compositors, including Labwc, KWin, Wayfire, Hyprland, Sway, River, and Niri.

[11:52] schestowitz[TR2][11:52] schestowitz[TR2]Two weeks after its previous 6.2.2 release, the KDE team rolled out a new bugfix update to its Plasma 6.2 series, version 6.2.3. While generally small, these bug fixes improve system stability and usability.
