The toy kazoo looks like a tiny trombone and the slider does alter the pitch, but it isnt tuned at all and so analyzing the pitch isnt useful. So Theremin Hero chose to tie the toys slider position to the mouse cursor position in the Y axis and any sound coming from the kazoo triggers a mouse click. Their custom computer software handles the latter by listening through any microphone connected to [06:23] schestowitz the computer, but monitoring the slider position was more difficult and required an Arduino.

    Using cppfront with Meson
[06:27] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-nibblestew.blogspot.com | Nibble Stew: Using cppfront with Meson [06:27] schestowitz
    [06:27] schestowitz

Recently Herb Sutter published cppfront, which is an attempt to create C++ a new syntax to fix many issues that can't be changed in existing C++ because of backwards compatibility. Like with the original cfront compiler, cppfront works by parsing the "new syntax" C++ and transpiling it to "classic" C++, which is then compiled in the usual way. These kinds of source generators are fairly common (it is [06:27] schestowitz basically how Protobuf et al work) so let's look at how to add support for this in Meson. We are also going to download and build the cppfront compiler transparently.

The stated goal of the browser extension is to look over your shoulder, recording where you log in and what credentials you use. The idea is recognizing Shadow IT, essential parts of the company infrastructure which the management isnt aware of. And you would never use your work computer for private stuff anyway, right?

This is all getting pretty nasty, and rather stupid. Pretty much the only point of requiring a phone for 2FA is to force everyone to get cell phones whether they need one or not.

[21:35] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-blog.powerdns.com | Structured Logging in PowerDNS Recursor | PowerDNS Blog [21:35] schestowitz

[21:35] schestowitz This is the fourth part of a series of blog posts we are publishing, mostly around recent developments with respect to PowerDNS Recursor. The first blog post was Refreshing Of Almost Expired Records: Keeping The Cache Hot, the second Probing DoT Support of Authoritative Servers: Just Try It and the third Sharing data between threads in PowerDNS Recursor. [21:35] schestowitz Complex programs like PowerDNS Recursor need to log information about their operation. In itself this is a delicate balance: too much logging will slow the process down, too little will make it harder to diagnose issues. The question what and how to log is also important: up until now we have used free-format text logging. The messages itself can go to a logging daemon (e.g. systemd-journald or syslogd), a text file or the console. [21:35] schestowitz
