    [14:58] schestowitz[TR2]

The European Commission has opened a public call for evidence on a forthcoming European Open Digital Ecosystems Strategy. The consultation, which runs from January 6 to February 3, 2026, invites feedback from developers, companies, public administrations, academia, and civil society.

    [14:58] schestowitz[TR2]

The initiative is expected to culminate in a Commission communication to the European Parliament and the Council, with adoption planned for the first quarter of 2026.

Improving the Flatpak Graphics Drivers Situation
    [17:48] schestowitz[TR2]
    [17:48] schestowitz[TR2]

Graphics drivers in Flatpak have been a bit of a pain point. The drivers have to be built against the runtime to work in the runtime. This usually isnt much of an issue but it breaks down in two cases: [...]

[19:13] schestowitz[TR2] Most of it is didactic (and probably well known here) and should be in a blog. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] You regularly send such emails, [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] but almost nobody here makes the effort to give detailed and [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] meticulous writing as yours. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] You should definitely try to see with GNUs if some of your writing may [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] be made into articles there. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] https://www.gnu.org/ [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] Otherwise, your inquiries should go in a blog [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] or could make some articles on LibrePlanet wiki. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] Often, you mix the results of your inquiries with questions for the [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] points you don't know [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] like [6] above, it can be easily missed. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] I think you could separate the both, [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] and compare what you have to say with what is already available on GNU [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] at gnu.org or LibrePlanet to see the main points and reflections you [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] bring to the table. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] (It can be more didactic or more "historical", [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] you need to extract what makes your point of view special and [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] interesting to others. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] The didactic questions in your email are pertinents and shows that you [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] want to teach others [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] and find the best way to help them.) [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] And then find a way to publish these points, at gnu.org, LibrePlanet [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] or a personal blog. [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] Since you do all this work, it should have some place to be "published [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] on the web". [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] I don't think many people will read the archives of LibrePlanet, [19:13] schestowitz[TR2] and, hence, I don't consider that it is a "full publication" on the web.
