I would go one step further and say that an aspect of the story of IBM under Arvind that doesnt get as much play, and probably should, is that the level of personal animus towards him is pretty much unprecedented in any IBM CEO in the last 20 years and its because hes a total forking jackwagon of a human being. [02:56] schestowitz[TR2] I dont recall this level of resentment directed personally at any IBM CEO, not even Ginni or Palmisano. In addition to his Jack Welch BS and the wholesale destruction of the positive aspects of the culture of Big Blue, Arvind really seems to relish going the extra mile to do things like berate and humiliate people on the all-hands for asking questions he doesnt like (that he no doubt selects himself) and using fake-DEI virtue [02:56] schestowitz[TR2] signaling to drive a wedge while enacting, s-xist, bigoted, racist policies that disproportionately affect anyone who isnt his favorite ethnicity living in his favorite country. It's gross. [02:56] schestowitz[TR2] I dont recall another IBM CEO whose policies were so universally reviled by employees, whose personality was so widely perceived as blatantly condescending, flippant, and arrogant, and whose Kwik-E-Mart style of management was so repulsive to so many. You can tell THAT to the employee engagement survey. [02:56] schestowitz[TR2] He might fool Wall Street for awhile and get short-term results, and thats probably good enough for him and his cronies before they peace out with their golden parachutes, but it definitely not sustainable, nor does it bode well for IBMs long-term prospects. [03:44] schestowitz[TR2] If you submitted a Request for Review, you should have already received a response from the administration (Review Decision), as their deadline is two months from the submission date of the RfR. EPEL Repo Explained: Installation and Usage on Linux
    [17:43] schestowitz[TR2]
    [17:43] schestowitz[TR2]

If youve bet for your server needs on RHEL-based distributions such as AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, or CentOS Stream, you must have reached the point where certain software you need is listed as being in the EPEL repository.

    [17:43] schestowitz[TR2]

So far, so good, but what exactly is it, and why do so many Enterprise Linux users swear by it? In this article, well demystify EPEL, guide you through its installation, and show you how to make the most of it on your Linux system.

    [17:43] schestowitz[TR2]

Why? Its simpleunderstanding the EPEL repo can unlock a treasure trove of useful, community-maintained software that makes your Linux system even more versatile. So, without further ado, lets get started.

    Why I use KDE
    [17:49] schestowitz[TR2]
    [17:49] schestowitz[TR2]

I continued using this mix of Mac OS X and Windows even Vista for a long time, while having various iterations of Linux installed on the side. I eventually lost interest in Mac OS X because Apple lost interest in it (I think around the Snow Leopard era?), and years later, six or seven years ago or so, I moved to Linux exclusively, fully ditching Windows even for gaming like [17:49] schestowitz[TR2] four or so years ago when Valves Proton started picking up steam. Nowadays all my machines run Fedora KDE, which I consider to be by far the best desktop operating system experience you can get today.

    [17:49] schestowitz[TR2]

Over the last few years or so, Ive noticed something fun and interesting in how I set up my machines: you can find hints of my operating system history all over my preferred setup and settings. I picked up all kinds of usage patterns and expectations from all those different operating systems, and Id like to enable as many of those as possible in my computing environment. In [17:49] schestowitz[TR2] a way, my setup is a reflection of the operating systems I used in the past, an archaeological record of my computing history, an evolutionary tree of good traits that survived, and bad traits bred out.
