You helped the company grow and in turn supported alot of retirees. For those reasons alone, you should be commended. Once an IBMer, always an IBMer. [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] That said, all corporation evolve and change. The company you worked for 10 years ago has moved on. And probably alot of people you knew, have moved on too. So you'll need to rebuild your network and build up your visibility again to secure your future. [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] A couple of practical suggestions. If you are a former US employee, your years of service will be continued if you re-start at IBM . This could be helpful in a few ways: [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] (1) If you are on the old pension plan, ask how this will help your ultimate payout [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] (2) If you were one of the people who has a small pension and a 401K, there is probably no change because your pension is capped already, but worth asking [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] (3) For your Future Health Account -- call the NetBenefits helpline at Fidelity and ask [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] them what is on your account and if coming back would increase your payout [01:54] schestowitz[TR2] Good luck to you! [14:19] schestowitz[TR2][14:19] schestowitz[TR2]And Id say its a pretty good release! As with all large sets of changes, there are a couple of regressions were tracking, particularly around the areas of external monitor brightness and multi-screen performance. They are being actively investigated. Other than those, so far all the issues have been fairly minor, requiring people to jump through various hoops to experience [14:19] schestowitz[TR2] them. Were still working on fixing them, of course! Ill be writing up another post soon on these issues, discussing how they snuck into the final release, and what we can learn from the experience.
