[07:58] schestowitzAfter using Windows for some 30 years as my primary operating system, I have come to a difficult realization that I will need to wean myself off it for good sometime soon-ish. This isn't a trivial decision, and the outcome won't happen overnight. In fact, I don't expect my plan to be fully realized until 2025-2026, when Windows 10 goes EOL. But I must start somewhere.
[07:58] schestowitzWhat prompted me was the news that Windows 11 Pro will (most likely) need an online account to complete the installation process. Even if this doesn't happen or gets retracted, the very notion of a classic desktop formula being mangled so badly to serve some cloud-mobile greed model angers me. And so, I am slowly starting the migration journey.
[07:59] schestowitzI was talking to a friend last summer about what resources might be helpful for folks learning to program. My friend said they thought some people might benefit from a list of small and fun programming projects the kind of thing you can do in an evening or weekend.
[07:59] schestowitzSo lets talk about that! I like to write small programs that have some marginal utility in my life. Kind of like this: [...]
[08:16] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-boilingsteam.com | Stadia To Introduce Its Own Solution to Run Windows Games on Linux - Boiling Steam [08:16] schestowitzOne of the major issues with Stadia so far was they had too few games and it apparently required native ports to Linux to make games work. Many of us have been wondering for a while why Stadia could not use something like Proton and they may just have done that, while it seems they have built their own solution. I guess we will know more details in just a few more days.
