The traditional way to run Go software on a Raspberry Pi would be to install Raspbian or some other Linux distribution onto the SD card, copy over your program(s) and then maintain that installation (do regular updates).

I thought it would be nicer to run my Raspberry Pis such that only Go software is run by the Linux kernel on it, without any traditional Linux distribution programs like package managers or even the usual GNU Core Utilities.

I use a program called Little Snitch which alerts me to network traffic attempted by the programs I use. I have all network access denied for a lot of Apple OS-level apps because Im not interested in transmitting any of my data whatsoever to Apple over the network - mostly because Apple turns over customer data on over 30,000 customers per year to US federal police without any search warrant per [11:37] schestowitz Apples own self-published transparency report. Im good without any of that nonsense, thank you.

When you log into Twitter, you get bombarded with political opinions that are counterproductive. Even if you judiciously block, even if you switch to the latest tweets timeline, it doesnt matter, as your connections also get fed outrage, and start sharing. Whenever I see another flame war on Twitter, its always another US tantrum, and I have to wait for a couple of days for it to cool off. And [11:43] schestowitz US tantrums are digestible because at least Im not living in the US, whereas Facebook was giving me local news of gruesome local tragedies, many times as promoted posts.

People want more content moderation on these platform, this being seemingly in contradiction with freedom of speech. But we are missing the forest from the trees, I think. The problem with these centralized public squares is that their algorithms are now adversarial, shoving speech we dont want in our faces for profit.
