[08:21] schestowitz[08:21] schestowitzCOSMIC apps showcase whats possible with the libcosmic widget library, the iced toolkit, and the COSMIC theming system. They also help demonstrate the long-term vision for the platform. With how far theyve come, weve decided to delay the alpha release until the core apps reach MVP (Minimum Viable Product) so that they may be included with the initial ISO. This puts us somewhere around [08:21] schestowitz late May for the alpha. However, this does not change our overall timeline! The completed release is still expected later this year along with Pop!_OS 24.04.

Meanwhile, COSMIC testing has expanded to more users around the office. This month, were providing updates to the checklist we published in January on remaining tasks for releasing the alpha.

[08:22] schestowitz[08:22] schestowitzA few more tickets in the milestone were fixed, including the ICU upgrade one, but a few were also added (some migrated from HaikuPorts that turned out to be regressions in Haiku or its buildtools, etc.)

[11:58] schestowitz[11:58] schestowitzThe Raspberry Pi Foundation has updated its Debian 12-based OS for the pocket-sized powerhouse, with the newest LTS kernel.
[11:58] schestowitzAlthough there's no version number in the release notes, the new installment of the official Raspberry Pi OS calls itself version 5.2 on the startup splash screen. Like version 5, which we checked out last November, it's still based on Debian 12 "Bookworm", and that's what it calls itself in the /etc/os-release file, but it continues to diverge further from its parent.
