    The EDPBs Rorschach Test
    [09:49] schestowitz[TR2]
    [09:49] schestowitz[TR2]

On 17 December 2024, the EDPB released its long-awaited Opinion 28/2024 on certain data protection aspects related to the processing of personal data in the context of AI models. The process has highlighted some insufficiencies: an expedited timeline, limited and asymmetrical stakeholder involvement, and a problematic framing. In terms of content, this document has sparked intense de [09:49] schestowitz[TR2] bate, and it will continue to do so in the near future. The main reason for this is that, the more you reflect on it, the more it resembles a Rorschach testeveryone seems to see what they want to see.

A critical opportunity to strengthen cross-border enforcement
    [11:05] schestowitz[TR2]
    [11:05] schestowitz[TR2]

As EU negotiators continue trilogue discussions on the GDPR Procedural Regulation, civil society organisations across Europe are raising the alarm: the proposed reforms risk failing to address the long-standing enforcement challenges that have undermined the GDPRs effectiveness. In a joint letter, EDRi, Access Now and 34 fellow organisations call on policymakers to prioritise ro [11:05] schestowitz[TR2] bust, rights-centred enforcement mechanisms that ensure individuals can meaningfully exercise their rights.

DIY micro lab analyzes ammonia levels in blood and urine
    [11:54] schestowitz[TR2]
    [11:54] schestowitz[TR2]

An Arduino Nano board controls the whole process through a custom PCB. That starts with heating the sample in a vial to release the ammonia vapor. The vapor travels via a tube through a gas diffuser into another vial containing Berthelots reagent. A magnetic stirrer beneath mixes the gas into the reagent. A 660nm (deep red) laser shines through that vial into a photo diode on the other [11:54] schestowitz[TR2] side, and the Arduino monitors that through a pre-amp.
