What to Expect From ClamAV 1.5 Open-Source Antivirus
    [10:55] schestowitz[TR2]
    [10:55] schestowitz[TR2]

One of the biggest highlights in this release is the introduction of a FIPS-compliant method for verifying CVD and CDIFF signature database files. While the feature is included in this candidate, ClamAV developers arent yet distributing the associated .cvd.sign files for the main databases.

    [10:55] schestowitz[TR2]

For now, this means systems running in strict FIPS mode will still see Freshclam updates fail. However, the release candidate does include test keys and certificates so developers can begin trying out the new signing and verification workflow.

LibreOffice 25.8 Released, This Is Whats New
    [11:29] schestowitz[TR2]
    [11:29] schestowitz[TR2]

Performance is one of the standout improvements in this release. Benchmarks show Writer and Calc opening documents up to 30% faster, with smoother scrolling and better memory handling, especially on thin clients and virtual desktops. Users on less powerful machines will likely notice the difference right away.

[23:34] schestowitz[TR2] Big corporations go to great lengths to 'hide' layoffs. For example, do things that would not require to announce the layoffs in accordance with the Warn Act (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) and they make sure the groups they let go are not in a single location and over 50, or they push people out via 'performance' reviews and pressure, marketing (they message layoffs not as a failure but, AI or other 'positive' reas [23:34] schestowitz[TR2] ons), etc. [23:34] schestowitz[TR2] They time the layoffs according to sales cycles, earnings, etc. For example, they know they cannot handle a bad earnings report + layoffs, so they wait until the earnings call is over an rhen decide when to time the layoffs.
