This transition period applied to staff who did not voluntarily opt-in to the new scheme and still guaranteed several benefits related to education costs, such as e.g. the reimbursement of after-school childcare. This transition period is now over and may affect you. [11:35] schestowitz The new scheme redefines in more restrictive terms what falls under the scope of direct and indirect education costs. For this reason you may been subject to lower reimbursements than in the past or than you would have legitimately expected to receive under the former scheme. [11:35] schestowitz Typical prejudices are the: [11:35] schestowitz - non-reimbursement of exam fees or other costs that are now considered as indirect costs. [11:35] schestowitz - other prejudices can be indirect costs which exceed the lump sum foreseen by the new scheme. The costs for boarding school are not reimbursed anymore at the level that it used to be. The new Young Child Allowance does not cover anymore after-school childcare for children aged of 4 to 12. [11:35] schestowitz - loss of the Expatriate Allowance Supplement (EAS) for expatriate employees (at the end of the one year transition period). In any case, you should file a request for review if the total net lump sums and reimbursement that you get for the education or educational support of dependents has decreased since the end of the transition period applicable to the EAS and first implemented against you in the salary slip of 26 August 2022.
