Mozilla Resolves 21-Year-Old Bug, Adds Full XDG Directory Support
    [13:42] schestowitz[TR2]
    [13:42] schestowitz[TR2]

The update modernizes how the browser stores files on Linux systems and aligns its behavior with that of most desktop applications, which have been doing so for years. Heres what Im talking about.

    [13:42] schestowitz[TR2]

Until now, Firefox placed nearly all of its user filessettings, profiles, data, and cacheinside a single folder called ~/.mozilla in the users home directory. This approach worked, but it also contributed to the familiar clutter many Linux users see when applications each create their own hidden folders.

Calibre 8.15 E-Book Manager Adds Highlight Dates in Viewer
    [13:42] schestowitz[TR2]
    [13:42] schestowitz[TR2]

The e-book viewer adds a minor enhancement: hovering over a highlight now displays the date it was created. The Comments editor receives two updates focused on text handling. Case-change operations now preserve as much existing formatting as possible, improving accuracy when editing styled text.

Windows can now be selectively excluded from screen recording! This can be invoked from the titlebar context menu, Task Manager context menu, and window rules. (Stanislav Aleksandrov, link)

[21:55] schestowitz[TR2] Fourteen colleagues stepped forward before the deadline of Wednesday, 19 November at noon, and therefore stand as candidates for the Election Committee. We sincerely thank all of them for volunteering. [21:55] schestowitz[TR2] We are in the unusual situation of having more candidates than available seats (5 to 9, according to the Election Rules). It will therefore be up to the General Assembly (GA) on 4 December to appoint the members of the Election Committee.
