schestowitz[TR2]This is great news in terms of addressing some of the Great H1B scandal. However I ddid read it would be exempt if the roles where seen to be in the national interest (so they still have exemptions that can be abused, and will be abused)Sep 23 01:44
schestowitz[TR2]However this probably not bringing back jobs to Americans. As I don't read anywhere any rules to limit how much out of profits goes to shareholders vs investment in workflorce. So Companies will find other means of cutting back. In the short term just mean that some products \ services will get worse, until the companies figure out the next low cost measure to meet the requirements. Until you force companies to spend X-X out of proSep 23 01:44

schestowitz[TR2]The first true qualified sales lead that came from anything IBM Marketing did in 40 years will be the first. Marketing at IBM and virtually every other company is SUPPOSED to create awareness then demand then preference then sales for a product or company but marketing really is just a huge money sink hole where they spend money on things that do nothing to help sales and often times quote how many times a white paper was downloadeSep 23 01:45
schestowitz[TR2]d etc like that is a qualified lead?! Marketing has always been a place in companies where people "can go hide" for short term or even their whole career.Sep 23 01:45

schestowitz[TR2] Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]BOSTON, Massachusetts, USA - Monday, September 22, 2025 - The Free Software Foundation (FSF) today announced the addition of Alexandre Oliva to its board of directors after a three month trial period.Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]After eighty-three nominations, ten candidates in forum discussions with FSF associate members, months of conversations between current board members and all candidates, and a review of all sitting board members, the confirmation of Oliva after his three month trial period now concludes the FSF's first board process as initiated in 2021.Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]"We look forward to having Oliva fully on board," says FSF president Geoffrey Knauth, "Alex's commitment to free software principles and his vast knowledge of today's challenges in the community are highly valuable."Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]A longtime free software activist and founder of FSF Latin America, Oliva brings decades of experience in the free software movement to the FSF board. He is chief developer of the GNU Linux-libre project, a version of the kernel Linux that removes all nonfree bits from the kernel's source code, enabling users around the world to run fully free versions of the GNU/Linux operating system. For his deep commitment and tireless work in Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]free software, Oliva received the 2016 Advancement of Free Software award given annually by the FSF.Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]Nine directors currently serve on the FSF's board of directors, a substantial increase from before the board initiated this new process in 2021.Sep 23 09:29
schestowitz[TR2]Knauth added: "Since 2021, we added five board members, of which one is a staff union position and the other four are highly qualified community activists. We want to thank all people who nominated, reviewed, and discussed the candidates and helped us achieve such a great result."Sep 23 09:29
