[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	In your Communiqu of 9 April 2020, you explained that with the reform of the
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	EPO salary adjustment procedure [t]here is no desire to cut staff purchasing
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	power or impose unnecessary savings but There is a desire, however, to
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	[] ensure salaries continue to grow, even above eurozone inflation.
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	The review of the six-year application of the procedure shows that instead of
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	the expected long-term assumption of Eurozone inflation +0.2%, salaries have
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	grown by only Eurozone inflation -0.2% (-0.4% difference) since 2020 and the
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	chosen capping mechanism at Eurozone inflation +0.2% does not allow any
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	catch-up in the future.
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	In addition to that, the evolution of salaries of EPO staff in Munich lags behind
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	national inflation and the increase in costs of living in Munich resulting in a
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	loss of purchasing power. The benchmark with other International
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	Organisations shows that the EPO has the worst salary adjustments.
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	Your services did not design a method meeting the orientations of the Council
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	nor the standards among International Organisations and cause a long-term
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	erosion of all staff benefits.
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	I hereby request that the new salary adjustment procedure in 2026 corrects
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	the damage caused to staff by restoring and maintaining purchasing power
[04:45]	schestowitz[TR2]	and meets the standards of other International Organisations.

[06:09]	schestowitz[TR2]	no automated means to show account balances.  It was all about funnymoney
[06:09]	schestowitz[TR2]	and creative accounting.  It almost put some major universities out of
[06:09]	schestowitz[TR2]	business because bill could not get paid ... for months at a time.

[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	from the IT depts to where the money was and were kept busy with unproductive
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	"work" for almost a decade.  That allowed the remaining, skilled  people
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	to flourish.  Unfortunately after that decade, Peoplesoft was thoroughly 
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	entrenched and despite failing colossallym, was not written off as a failure 
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	as it should have been.  Instead the various universities threw more money
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	at it and warped their institutions around its behaviour.  Then came M$, Cisco,
[06:12]	schestowitz[TR2]	Oracle, and the otehr carpetbaggers.
