[06:10] schestowitz[TR2] In this case, the Rust-developed clone of the date command had significant issues that caused automatic system update checks on Ubuntu to fail to occur. [06:10] schestowitz[TR2] Worth noting that the Rust-based date clone only passes 2 of the 8 test cases for the utility thats a 75% failure rate. And some other Rust-based Core Utils clones fare even worse. [06:10] schestowitz[TR2] The Ubuntu team knew the Rust uutil failure rate was this extreme when they chose to replace the well tested GNU Core Utils. [06:10] schestowitz[TR2] Fortunately, this specific issue has been fixed and made available to Ubuntu users. [06:10] schestowitz[TR2] Unfortunately Considering the extremely large number of known test failures of the Rust uutils and the fact that those existing tests only cover a tiny fraction of the total functionality of the GNU Core Utils which these Rust versions are meant to replace (meaning most missing functionality and errors will not be caught by the tests) it seems like a reasonable bet that this is only the beginning of the issues whi [06:10] schestowitz[TR2] ch Ubuntu will see in the coming months." ● Oct 24 [07:09] *psydruid (~psydruid@jevhxkzmtrbww.irc) has left #techbytes [07:10] *psydruid (~psydruid@jevhxkzmtrbww.irc) has joined #techbytes [07:47] *FANTOM has quit (Ping timeout: 120 seconds) ● Oct 24 [08:15] *FANTOM (~fantom@freenode-1tj.fvm.v1ickb.IP) has joined #techbytes ● Oct 24 [10:27] schestowitz[TR2] "Bill Gates to appear in Ekta Kapoors Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2; fans call it the crossover of the year | Hindustan Times" [10:27] schestowitz[TR2] x https://www.hindustantimes.com/htcity/cinema/bill-gates-to-appear-in-ekta-kapoor-s-kyunki-saas-bhi-kabhi-bahu-thi-2-smriti-irani-tulsi-virani-101761209474238.html [10:27] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-www.hindustantimes.com | Bill Gates to appear in Ekta Kapoors Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2; fans call it the crossover of the year | Hindustan Times [10:34] schestowitz[TR2] "Cybersecurity revamped, with Snyk Evo and AI agents" [10:34] schestowitz[TR2] x https://siliconangle.com/2025/10/23/snyk-unveils-evo-worlds-first-agentic-cybersecurity-snykaisecurity/ [10:34] -TechBytesBot/#techbytes-Cybersecurity revamped, with Snyk Evo and AI agents - SiliconANGLE [10:35] schestowitz[TR2] "My Students Use AI. OpenBSD 7.8 out now and 9front's 'Release' released

The other improvement that seemed especially interesting to us was that the OpenBSD TCP/IP stack is now multithreaded. It scales with the number of CPUs in the machine, up to a maximum of eight cores, with one connection handled by one core. This includes some of the more computationally-demanding aspects of IPv6.
