Using Hacked LastPass Keys to Steal Cryptocurrency
    [00:46] schestowitz
    [00:46] schestowitz

Look, I know that online password databases are more convenient. But theyre also risky. This is why my Password Safe is local only. (I know this sounds like a commercial, but Password Safe is not a commercial product.)

Turning an old car into a powerful generator
    [04:15] schestowitz
    [04:15] schestowitz

Most of the cost of a generator is from the engine, and alternator or dynamo with inverter. In this case, the engine is in a Toyota Sienna minivan. The vehicle isnt worth keeping on the road, but the engine still runs well. And that engine has plenty of power for a generator. The alternator came from a Harbor Freight generator that had a bad engine. To keep the AC voltage output at the stead [04:15] schestowitz y 60Hz needed for household appliances and tools, von Slatt utilized an Arduino.

Canonical partners with AMD to enable Ubuntu on AMD Kria K24 SOMs
    [04:16] schestowitz
    [04:16] schestowitz

Canonical has partnered with AMD (since from when it was still Xilinx) for many years and we jointly deliver optimised/certified Ubuntu on multiple AMD device families, e.g. AMD Zynq UltraScale+ evaluation boards and AMD Kria K26 SOMs (system-on-module). Canonical is pleased to announce Ubuntu is now enabled on AMDs new Kria KD240 and ready for developers to download and install. [04:16] schestowitz

EuroBSDCon 2023 report (1/2) arrival & tutorial days
    [04:51] schestowitz
    [04:51] schestowitz

This article is going to be a long read. Ill be giving a fair bit of detail to share enough of the experience to hopefully give interested readers a good idea on how things work and whats going to be in for them. I will also not hide my intention of lurin err, of course I mean encouraging more people to attend future conferences.

The best model checker is your head
    [04:55] schestowitz
    [04:55] schestowitz

There's this quote I like, "the best model checker is your brain." People who do formal methods find that simply writing the spec is enough to find errors, even without actually running it. It's kind of like if writing a unit test on a piece of paper told you where the bug in your code was.

    C++ client bindings for moteus
    [04:55] schestowitz
    [04:55] schestowitz

For a long time, moteus has had a python library, that lets most people quickly develop motion control applications. However, python is not a suitable solution in every domain. Embedded systems often either dont have access to python, or cannot tolerate the resource or timing penalties it imposes. In some cases, managing interoperability between python asyncio and systems using legacy python [04:55] schestowitz IO like ROS can be challenging. For others, python is just not familiar. The new C++ client library included in the moteus repository is designed to handle all of these scenarios with a flexible, yet ergonomic approach that makes simple things simple, and complex things possible.

    Circles do not exist
    [04:55] schestowitz
    [04:55] schestowitz

Since roughly the mid 80s all "high quality" print jobs have been done either in PostScript or, nowadays almost exclusively, in PDF. They use the same basic drawing model, which does not have a primitive for circles (or circle arcs). The only primitives they have are straight line segments, rectangles and Bzier curves. None of these can be used to express a circle accurately. You can only do [04:55] schestowitz an approximation of a circle but it is always slightly eccentric. The only way to create a proper circle is to have a raster image like the one above.

This week in KDE: an unfrozen panel for NVIDIA Wayland users
    [05:27] schestowitz
    [05:27] schestowitz

Though the number of total Plasma 6 known issues rose this week, we managed to fix some major and longstanding ones from Plasma 5! You might recognize a few in the text below. Ultimately, these were deemed more pressing than the comparatively minor new ones. Well be continuing to hammer those bugs, but we do need helpyour help! Discovering bugs is important, but so is fixing them, [05:27] schestowitz and we need help to get it done.
