I can say with a great deal of certainty because I was a photography major in college at this exact moment in 2009. I was aware and critical of how demeaning that style of photography is and was quite vocal about it with people I knew that went on "mission trips" and came back with photos like that. Netherlands fines Uber 290M for breaching EU's GDPR privacy regulation
    [11:23] schestowitz[TR2]
    [11:23] schestowitz[TR2]

Uber, like many other U.S. tech firms, transfers information it collects about international users to stateside data centers. In July 2020, the European Unions top court struck down the framework over concerns about U.S. surveillance.

    [11:23] schestowitz[TR2]

Following the ruling, companies had to use a legal tool known as Standard Contractual Clauses, or SCCs, if they wished to transfer user data to the U.S. SCCs can only be used if certain conditions are met. Notably, tech firms must ensure that consumers will receive the same level of privacy as in the EU once their data leaves the bloc.

    [15:07] schestowitz[TR2]
    [15:07] schestowitz[TR2]

iostat is a command-line tool used in Linux to monitor system input/output (I/O) device loading by observing the time devices are active with their average transfer rates. Primarily part of the sysstat package, iostat is invaluable for diagnosing performance issues related to disk usage, identifying bottlenecks, and monitoring the overall health of storage subsystems. On Debian Linux, iost [15:07] schestowitz[TR2] at can provide detailed statistics about CPU utilization, device utilization, and throughput, making it an essential tool for system administrators who need to manage and optimize disk I/O performance.

Indias demographics 1.3 billion staying stable or growing over the next 20 years favors labor commoditization. As such Africas educated workforce (whose entire continent population is less than China or India) will inflate as they [16:19] schestowitz[TR2] modernize. This nets out to India winning the labor war as they will keep suppling needed labor. [16:19] schestowitz[TR2] A rebound will not backfire on IBM. Kyndryl proved that keeping on shore workforce population in the 8-10% of worldwide total work force is profitable and stable. IBM is now in the process of implementing that model. There is no going back IBM will downsize USA and Northern Europe for offshore labor. The Internet is the great equalizer when it comes to commoditizing labor. [16:19] schestowitz[TR2] Yes something will replace the mainframe, BUT not in our lifetimes. Why? Because IBM is a monopoly when it comes to mainframe and they have already proposed two replacements A LINUX mainframe, and a quantum computer. If something else comes along, IBM will just lower the price of the mainframe HW and make it up with the SW and consulting division. Arent monopolies fun. Everyone has predicted the death of the mainframe since [16:19] schestowitz[TR2] the 1980s, and it hasnt happened. Why? Because IBM makes it cheaper to keep it, vs the risk of switching [16:19] schestowitz[TR2] " [16:20] *psydruid (~psydruid@jevhxkzmtrbww.irc) has left #techbytes [16:27] schestowitz[TR2]

The Positron V3.2 has its origins in this design by K R A L Y N 3D, and the V3.2 version was turned into a kit by LDO Motors and Positron3D. There's also a reprap-style alternative that's slightly taller and a bit cheaper called Positron LT.
