But no one is fully protected when the budget axe swings. Nobody. [02:35] schestowitz[TR2] Since you mentioned design thinking, it went out of fashion for good cause. I once had 3 full-time designers with several more on call for my development efforts during the height of the design thinking craze at IBM. Senior executives badly wanted designers to play a major role in our products, but the designers they hired kept winning Darwin Awards. The problem was hiring moderately talented, middle iq smooth talkers with no usefu [02:35] schestowitz[TR2] l skills. If, instead, theyd retrained first-rate, experienced engineers and product managers (or salesmen burning out on the sales gig) who demonstrated touches of design flair, IBM products could have really gone somewhere. A designer without deep roots in the art of the technically possible, customers stated desires, and customers actual deeper needs (which they may not acknowledge) that designer is doomed to fail. [02:35] schestowitz[TR2] And it may be ugly. [02:35] schestowitz[TR2] Eliminating the huge Watson-era Design organization was a good move no design may be better than bad design from a politically powerful design function. [02:37] schestowitz[TR2] Twice a week, in the wee hours, a mini tanker with septage collection vehicle" written on it would drive into the service road on the Edappally bypass stretch of NH 47 in Kochi, open a pipe attached to the tanker and drain its foul-smelling content into a stream. Everything would be over in less than a minute and the tanker would speed away. That's the reason I left this company and if anybody is serious about career the [02:37] schestowitz[TR2] y should do the same. [02:37] schestowitz[TR2] I know data is totally fck*d up because of bad leaders and very "heavy" nepotism. It is all very nice for the EPO to allow drawings in colour, but it would have been way better if this move would had been coordinated with WIPO, the EPC contracting states, and with the other members of the IP5 grou [16:41] schestowitz[TR2] p.

    It is good that the IB will retain the original colour/greyscale version and make it available on PATENTSCOPE, but this is not really helpful in PCT proceedings or for

    @What now?

    As far as I was aware, before this change at the EPO, only the KIPO (the patent monopoly office of South Korea) allowed color drawings. And I never saw a Korean patent monopoly application with color drawings which had a non-Korean family member.

    I too expect that the use case for color drawings will remain very limited until the major pa [16:41] schestowitz[TR2] tent monopoly offices harmonize on this point. And
