    And weve already been focusing on QA for a while, so new bug reports take priority both triaging them and fixing them. Over the past few months, weve succeeded in dropping plasmashells total number of bug reports to 1022, the lowest in several years. And the number of unconfirmed bug reports is currently down to 301, the lowest since late 2015! Triaging and fixing bugs [10:09] schestowitz[TR2] is a priority, and were promptly triaging all new Plasma new bug reports daily. Our goal is to push the number of unconfirmed bug reports under 200 by the end of September.

    The consequences of these factors is that Rust-for-Linux has become a burnout machine. My heart goes out to the developers who have been burned in this project. Its not fair. Free software is about putting in the work, its a classical do-ocracy until it isnt, and people get hurt. In spite of my critiques of the project, I recognize the talent and humanity of everyone involved, [15:03] schestowitz[TR2] and wouldnt have wished these outcomes on them. I also have sympathy for many of the established Linux developers who didnt exactly want this on their plate but thats neither here nor there for the purpose of this post, and any of those developers and their fiefdoms who went out of their way to make life difficult for the Rust developers above and beyond what was needed to ensure technical excellence are accountable for [15:03] schestowitz[TR2] these shitty outcomes.1
