psydreadThere must be millions of devices out there that can't run any version of Windows, so GNU/Linux and other operating systems are natural targets for them. Of course Microsoft wouldn't want all of this old hardware to be reused as it would contradict the narrative that their products are popular.Feb 02 08:26

schestowitz"Clarification: I found the apartment that was searched that police found all the images at. He was interviewed at Bill Gates’s house while the search took place, from what I understand from news reports. It’s still publicly unknown if he was taken in to be processed/booked that day or not. Oh, and the apartment complex advertised “walking distance to Microsoft shuttle location” and is now owned by philanthrapists who have invested Feb 02 08:57

schestowitzSpeculation: The Seattle PI news report suggests that they were searching the apartment when they discovered he was likely to be at the Gates mansion. If that’s the case there’s a good probable chance he was tipped off about the search. That would explain why he met with them at the front security office and then interviewed in an SUV outside the residence. Also possible they just asked for him there but still very possible he was tipped Feb 02 09:00
schestowitzoff in advance. I highly doubt they would given access to the Gates home. If you think about it….there is a good chance CIA is involved with Gates and his/Microsoft's Child Exploitation System (since 2003) and Gates likely operates this program from his home.  If Jones is CIA or knowingly working with them, he would have to confess and go down to not to compromise the rest of the operation. Just speculating but it’s clear that Feb 02 09:01
schestowitzpedophillia and surveillance and his partnership with multiple agencies is how Gates has remained in power. Also wouldn’t doubt if the whole town is protected by CIA or has federal protection since Jeff Bezos also coincidentally lives there. Feb 02 09:01
schestowitzHow did I find the apartment? I had to use Google Maps and run around in streetview until I found the same building in the photo. Then I confirmed a Rick Jones lived there and that he still owns the apartment there. There is public title documents in the Assessors office and it hasn’t been sold. He bought it in like 2010-2011.  Feb 02 09:01

psydroidpeople keep buying overpriced and underperforming Intel hardware where they would be much better off with a much cheaper ARM SoC that can handle all kinds of codecs in hardwareFeb 02 19:33
psydroidat this point I am really thinking this is some kind of scam to sell more processors for much more money than they are worthFeb 02 19:33
MinceRusually the people responsible for ARM SoC-s don't really care to enable GNU/Linux to run on their productsFeb 02 19:34
MinceRintel did a lot of catching up, thoughFeb 02 19:34
psydroidI know they did and I know the support for ARM SoCs hasn't made it upstream in many cases, but I still consider it the future in many ways. I don't think Intel will ever be able to live with the margins these ARM SoC vendors can survive on. Also buying an entirely new laptop just because the CPU/GPU can't handle a modern video codec sounds absurd to me.Feb 02 19:40
MinceRit would be nice to have a future that isn't darkFeb 02 19:42
oiaohmMinceR:  usually the people responsible for ARM SoC-s don't really care to enable GNU/Linux to run on their products << That slightly in correct.   Most of them care to a point that at least 1 particular version with their custom patched kernel does workFeb 02 19:42
MinceRrightFeb 02 19:42
MinceRthey consider "we managed to get this hacked ubuntu image boot once" to be supportFeb 02 19:42
MinceRi do notFeb 02 19:42
oiaohmIt is starting to change a bit now that people making IOT devices are starting to be asking arm chip supliers about update abality.Feb 02 19:44
oiaohmOf course once off support does not cut that.Feb 02 19:44
MinceRand then they'll say "oh well, we'll just be doing business with all these other guys who don't care about any of that"Feb 02 19:44
oiaohmNot so much.   Most of the parties making arm chips don't own their fabs.    Losing volume to a competor can make it harder to get fab space.Feb 02 19:46
DaemonFC[m]> MinceR:  usually the people responsible for ARM SoC-s don't really care to enable GNU/Linux to run on their products << That slightly in correct.   Most of them care to a point that at least 1 particular version with their custom patched kernel does workFeb 02 19:46
DaemonFC[m]I think the closest Intel got to that was that Atom chip that had a PowerVR graphics chipset. Which is also the reason why ARM SoCs need custom kernels.Feb 02 19:46
DaemonFC[m]PowerVR is a pile of shit that needs a blob driver.Feb 02 19:46
oiaohmLot of new arm socs are going just with the standard referen mali graphics instead of a third party like PowerVR that can be cheaper these days as well.Feb 02 19:47
oiaohmBasically the pressure is finally happening but I wish it was more. Feb 02 19:47
oiaohmMinceR: last few years some of the biggest players in the arm soc business have started focus on being support by the mainline Linux kernel.   I said at least a custom patched kernel.   But they are finally moving past that.Feb 02 19:53
oiaohmthe support for the S905x4 work for the amlogic there has already started being mainline before the chip is even on the market.Feb 02 19:56
