[00:00] DaemonFC You can get as nasty as you want about it and there's almost no change. [00:01] DaemonFC The reason Illinois is very strict with gun control and has higher violent crime rate than a rural Constitutional Carry state like Indiana is because Illinois has an out of control cost of living and a very bad jobs market. [00:01] DaemonFC The worst jobs market in the country. [00:02] DaemonFC If Illinois was worried about people going crazy due to lack of a job and money, they'd focus on taxes, cost of living, and jobs, not how to let the state police crawl your Facebook wall and see if you say bad things about Pritzker while they're deciding your FOID card case. [00:03] DaemonFC It's clear that the government sees Facebook walls as a goldmine for things like disability reviews and whether you get a gun permit. [06:35] DaemonFC That's just relative time dilation. [06:36] DaemonFC "Time travel" implies that you could go in either direction, which you can't using time dilation. [06:37] elusive_woman If you communicate with a space ship using FTL Communications, the reply from the ship arrives in the past. [06:37] DaemonFC Local time for two observers diverges to the point where you can be moving slower in time relative to the rest of the universe. It would probably suck too, because to get here something's gone horribly wrong for you and you're probably either doomed (gravity well) or you'd at least find that everyone you've known is dead and you've effectively been flung into the future. [06:38] DaemonFC But it still isn't time travel. [06:38] DaemonFC You've simply been in a localized flow of time that is different from everyone else's. [06:39] elusive_woman If you communicate with a space ship using FTL Communications, the reply from the ship arrives in the past. [06:40] DaemonFC No it doesn't. Because it's still taking time in both directions, just less time than it would at light speed. [06:40] DaemonFC Unless you can communicate in a way that is immediate across a given distance. [06:40] DaemonFC Which you really can't. [06:41] DaemonFC https://www.amazon.com/Royal-Purple-17441-Oil-Filter/dp/B003L33KKK [06:41] elusive_woman I'm talking about instantaneous communication [06:41] -TechrightsBot-tr/#techrights-Amazon.com [06:41] DaemonFC I love FRAM. They've cloned a $19 Royal Purple oil filter to every last measurement and material type and made it $12. [06:41] elusive_woman If you example you could use quantum entanglement to communicate [06:41] DaemonFC Only at Walmart. [06:42] DaemonFC Why do people hate Walmart? [06:42] DaemonFC They put an expensive oil filter I could never justify buying into the realm of "Okay, what the hell? In the cart you go." [06:42] DaemonFC :) [06:43] DaemonFC Like a $19 filter that does a marginally better job than the $4.28 AC Delco or the $9 Purolator One isn't something I'm really interested in. [06:43] DaemonFC But you give me that in a $12 price point, I mean, that's suddenly interesting to me. [06:44] DaemonFC I can stretch the oil change and save more money than the additional cost of the filter. [06:44] DaemonFC This next year is going to torment me though. [06:45] DaemonFC I'm still really old school about oil changes. I think the longest I was able to go without cracking and doing one was 4,288 miles. [06:45] DaemonFC So to me that's an extended drain because I've always followed the 3,000 mile rule regardless of the materials I was using, and that's supposedly been obsolete since the 70s. [06:46] DaemonFC But I've had a lot of cars make it to the 300,000+ mile mark and there was nothing wrong with the engine. [06:46] DaemonFC In the 70s, most cars had a catalytic converter and the government was beginning to care about pollution. [06:46] DaemonFC Old worn out engines with no cat or a broken cat put out a lot of pollution. [06:47] DaemonFC Mainly photochemical smog. [06:47] DaemonFC So I like the low phosphorous oils that use other additives that go easy on the catalytic converter. [06:48] DaemonFC One, you can't pass emissions where I live if you poison your catalytic converter and two, they are ungodly expensive to replace, at least with one that's not junk that will cause you to fail again because you thought you'd get out of this with only losing $800. [06:49] DaemonFC So it's totally worth looking into an oil that not only fights sludge and wear (the usual problems), but also one that is energy conserving and doesn't allow acid buildup that kills your pollution control devices. [06:50] DaemonFC While dexos1 gen3 mostly forces the oil companies into compliance with modern engine problems, like low speed pre-ignition if you use one of these modern ones that's got a turbo, it's got a lot of benefits for older engines too. [06:51] DaemonFC LSPI was never a problem with the 3800 because they never made one that was high enough compression for that to be a "What oil are you using?" issue. [06:52] DaemonFC If you're getting spark knock or something, you need to look at other things like is the engine overheating for do you have carbon fouling from low quality gasoline. [06:52] DaemonFC Low quality gasoline is the other serious issue. [06:53] DaemonFC Where people are like, super tight-fisted at the gas pump, and gas is $4.06 over here and $4.11 over there and they don't know any difference so they fill up at the fried chicken restaurant with the gas pumps as a side thing. [06:54] DaemonFC They don't have a marketing campaign and they don't care what their gas is associated with, they just want to lure you in to get convenience store stuff. [06:54] elusive_woman A fascinating thing to think about is that if you could travel FTL and have a way to look at earth from any distance, you could go far enough away from earth to see the past. [06:54] DaemonFC These oil companies that run major brands actually do care. They don't want people going "Well shit, I used BP gas and now my mechanic is tearing apart my engine." [06:55] DaemonFC elusive_woman: I can't go FTL in the Buick but I sure do try. [06:55] elusive_woman LOL [06:55] DaemonFC 100 miles an hour on the tollway. Woohoo. [06:55] DaemonFC Another reason not to use crappy oil and filters and cheap gas. [06:56] DaemonFC If you're running the engine hard then you don't want conventional oil and a $3 filter. [06:56] DaemonFC I noticed that the Castrol Edge did something weird I've never seen any other brand do. [06:56] DaemonFC Normally the stuff goes in light yellow/amber already. [06:57] DaemonFC This stuff went in clear as water and you could barely see it on the dipstick until I drove about 50 miles. [06:57] DaemonFC Now it's the usual yellow/amber. [06:57] DaemonFC That's because the engine "cooks" it and gives it color. [06:57] DaemonFC But I've never seen a fresh oil go in looking like water before. [06:58] elusive_woman I saw this cheapskate use his engine to fry some eggs. [06:58] DaemonFC Oh you can absolutely do that. [06:58] DaemonFC I'd recommend doing it real quick with the engine cover off, right on top of the intake manifold. Right after you shut the car down. [06:59] DaemonFC You'll have enough heat and time to scramble some eggs in that skillet. [07:07] elusive_woman Good [07:07] DaemonFC And it's eligible for expungement with no filing fee and the judge doesn't have an option to deny it. [07:08] DaemonFC The way it worked when I went to expungement court for something else was basically, the State had to prove some good reason why it was in the public's interest that I should have to suffer forever and ever for something that was up there with "Tossing a McDonalds bag out the car window." [07:08] DaemonFC And they couldn't so they didn't even try. [07:08] elusive_woman Littering? [07:09] DaemonFC Well, same classification. [07:09] DaemonFC Disorderly Conduct. I could move freely between Indiana and Illinois. [07:11] DaemonFC The court added it on and the probation officer didn't even believe me until I handed her the papers. [07:11] DaemonFC And she's like "Okay, they have never done this for anyone but yeah, you don't have to ask to be in Indiana.". [07:12] DaemonFC They only went with this because the cops brought it to them. [07:12] DaemonFC Most prosecutors don't snub the cops. [07:13] DaemonFC Then at the expungement they admitted that they could never prove their case so they settled for not a hell of a lot.
