DaemonFC[m]I was pleased to hear that we're just a stone's throw away from having 6 million votes cast already.Oct 08 20:20
DaemonFC[m]Vs only about 100,000 last cycle at this time.Oct 08 20:20
DaemonFC[m]Seems Democrats are paying attention and do not trust the post office and are either hurrying to get it in the mail without delay or just walking it to as secure drop-off box at the election headquarters.Oct 08 20:21
DaemonFC[m]schestowitz: The whole idea behind mail voting is it makes it easier to just get it done.Oct 08 20:21
DaemonFC[m]And it does.Oct 08 20:21
DaemonFC[m]Generally speaking, it does.Oct 08 20:22
DaemonFC[m]It also makes the lines at the polls shorter.Oct 08 20:22
DaemonFC[m]When lines at the polls are longer, some people just give up and leave even though they must be allowed to vote if they are in line when the polls closed. Oct 08 20:22
DaemonFC[m]So the shorter you can make those lines, the more people will vote.Oct 08 20:22
DaemonFC[m]More people voting pushes the electorate to the left.Oct 08 20:23
DaemonFC[m]So I've always hurried up and done early voting because like 50-60% just wait for election day and go gee these lines are really long.Oct 08 20:23
DaemonFC[m]And I don't want to back up the line and delay things for 3-4 minutes while I'm in there marking a ballot on election day, and maybe someone gives up and doesn't get to come back.Oct 08 20:24

GNUmoonMariaDB is going to stop racism and exploitation by removing some words from their software and docs https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-18777Oct 08 23:14

MinceRwhen do they say all racism and exploitation will be gone as a result of this change?Oct 08 23:16
GNUmoonSorry, I was joking about the outcome :)... it won't fix anything.Oct 08 23:17
MinceRthat's what i thoughtOct 08 23:17
MinceRbut perhaps they expect it to fix thatOct 08 23:17
GNUmoonIndeed, that's the implicit outcome of replacing words so real hard introspection and action does not have to happen.Oct 08 23:18
GNUmoonIt does not look very democratic either as one person from the US asked for it to happen. "A US-based user has asked me whether we can rename or alias slave-related statements, options, status variables."Oct 08 23:18
XRevan86At least we know it's a US-based user, so they must be worth considering.Oct 08 23:19

XRevan86It would've been very interesting to see if MariaDB weren't doing that and SJWs would've gone to Oracle for thatOct 08 23:25
MinceRindeedOct 08 23:26
XRevan86Because having Oracle as a best friend would've been quite an amusing viewOct 08 23:26
XRevan86one handshake before DJ TrumpOct 08 23:26
