oiaohmschestowitz: OSI taking Microsoft money is a hard one thing that Microsoft these days is a uses quite lot of open source software to make money.Nov 11 00:44

oiaohmI did not say Microsoft motivations were good.Nov 11 00:45
schestowitzso let's talk about THATNov 11 00:46
<--acer-box has quit (Ping timeout: 265 seconds)Nov 11 00:46
oiaohmas long as OSI objectives are not harmed by taking the money.   Leaving the money in Microsoft hands would have been worse.Nov 11 00:46
MinceRdoes blackmailing businesses that sell Linux-based devices (like Samsung) using patents count as "using open source software to make money"?Nov 11 00:46
MinceRwell, if OSI hasn't betrayed open source then their objectives are indeed harmedNov 11 00:47
MinceRnot only does it help legitimize microsloth, it also corrupts the OSINov 11 00:47
oiaohmMinceR: I was meaning directly like Azure and Windows update servers.   yes large volumes of Linux there.Nov 11 00:47

oiaohmOf course Microsoft is trying to hold on to their closed source profit making bits.Nov 11 00:52

MinceRwell, considering that Linux is being destroyed with a CoC and the only sane person in charge of it blackmailed by microsuck, it looks like the formerNov 11 00:53

oiaohmGNU and FSF have been running legally risky for a while.Nov 11 00:59
MinceRno, they could have only shut it down in sufficiently oppressive countriesNov 11 01:00

oiaohmThere were ways FSF could have done their operations and not caused this problem.Nov 11 01:05
oiaohmLets say RMS was head of PR not in management role where complains about issues would go then what he said would not been a problem with labour laws.Nov 11 01:05
MinceRfunny how in oiaohm's world such long-running issues get suddenly very urgent in random timesNov 11 01:06
