[00:58] IsambardPrince The process did involve "the hob". [00:59] IsambardPrince The oven (broil), the instant pot, and the dual chamber air fryer (for baking two large potatoes). ● Jul 16 [01:00] IsambardPrince Since I could run everything at once, it compressed the time and amount of labor required to approximately an hour whereas you could have pulled that off back in the 90s I suppose, with the oven and the microwave. For soggy potatoes and a couple hours of messing around with pots and pans. [01:01] IsambardPrince The oven has basically "seen its day". For the most part, you do not need it anymore. If I had a newer Instant Pot with the air fryer lid, I wouldn't have even needed the oven as a broiler. [01:02] IsambardPrince Several apartments ago, the only thing that ran on gas was the oven, so I just left the gas off and asked the landlord to remove the oven from the apartment. [01:02] IsambardPrince It was going to cost $25 a month just to leave it connected plus however much gas you used, and I don't use the oven. [01:18] MinceR where do you bake cookies and cakes? [01:40] IsambardPrince You can make cakes in the instant pot. [01:41] IsambardPrince Cookies would work too, but if it's a large batch you'd want an 8 quart with an air fryer lid. [01:42] IsambardPrince MinceR: You can make yogurt in the Instant Pot. [01:42] IsambardPrince You can use one small thing of the store bought as a starter. [01:43] IsambardPrince You can use it as a rice cooker. [01:43] IsambardPrince But I have a dedicated rice cooker. It's computerized. That system, which is also trained on NASAs satellite data, is geared toward parsing ESG data and climate analysis such as natural disaster monitoring. [08:34] IsambardPrince > IBM paid $2 billion for the company in 2016 and has reportedly been exploring a sale since at least April, as it seeks to streamline its business. The company said its weather unit serves an average of 415 million people monthly, and reports in April estimated the coming deal to be valued at more than $1 billion. [08:35] IsambardPrince Bought for $2 billion. Sale estimated around $1 billion. [08:39] schestowitz[TR2] what do they sell? [08:39] schestowitz[TR2] users' data? [08:42] IsambardPrince IBM turned it into a big spamfarm full of chumbuckets. [08:42] IsambardPrince Then they bought Weather Underground. [08:43] IsambardPrince So the combined company was sold off to a private equity group for, apparently, about half of what IBM paid for it (not counting the Weather Underground deal), and then on the condition that IBM could have the weather forecasting models to train "AI" which drives "ESG forecasts". [08:44] IsambardPrince schestowitz[TR2]: It basically leverages a couple things. [08:44] IsambardPrince Weather Underground is a better site though and they mostly left it alone. [08:44] IsambardPrince WU uses a combination of small weather monitoring stations and National Weather Service stuff like the doppler radar and storm alerts and such. And it hooks into live air quality data. [08:45] IsambardPrince It has a different forecasting model than The Weather Channel site and IBM bought it so they wouldn't have a competitor.
