[23:14]	IsambardPrince	Considering that, I think Artemis is proceeding much more quickly than Apollo. Consider that just the Apollo program, not Mercury or Gemini, just Apollo, they had to have 11 missions to get to the landing.

[23:15]	IsambardPrince	Artemis II was a flyby. Apollo 8 was the flyby mission.
[23:15]	IsambardPrince	Apollo 9 did Earth orbit testing of the LM, 10 did lunar orbit testing of the LM, but even if it had been completely fueled, the Apollo 10 LM couldn't land.
[23:16]	IsambardPrince	It didn't have to. So the software wasn't ready yet, it was hundreds of pounds heavier than Apollo 11's LM.
[23:16]	IsambardPrince	Not fueling it entirely was not just to keep the astronauts from going rogue and landing anyway.
[23:17]	IsambardPrince	Even if it had all the fuel, landing would have been dangerous and ascent would have been difficult.
[23:17]	IsambardPrince	You couldn't take anything from the surface with you and make it back to the CSM.
[23:17]	IsambardPrince	Because the LM is too heavy.
[23:18]	IsambardPrince	You couldn't just pick one astronaut to go down, because it takes two to pilot it.
[23:18]	IsambardPrince	NASA had some ideas for how to get back up into orbit and get to the CSM even if the LM had failed and couldn't take off.
[23:19]	IsambardPrince	But that was never built.
[23:19]	IsambardPrince	It was essentially just a jetpack that you strapped on and went to orbit in.
[23:19]	IsambardPrince	It's one of those things that was technically possible to do, but you wouldn't do it unless it truly was an emergency.

[23:47]	IsambardPrince	The ones in the 70s, would cost over $300 adjusted for inflation.

[23:47]	IsambardPrince	It was that or a percolator for most people.
[23:47]	IsambardPrince	An interesting thing about those units though, they came out during a worldwide coffee shortage.
[23:47]	IsambardPrince	And there's a switch on them that says "coffee saver".
[23:48]	IsambardPrince	What happens when you press that switch is, theres these things that press the filter inward to stack the coffee grounds higher, so that it brews stronger, and the idea was you would use less scoops of coffee for that.
[23:49]	IsambardPrince	The problem is that while it technically saved money on coffee, the coffee came out tasting more bitter, because it had been overextracted.

[23:50]	IsambardPrince	The funny thing was that those countries usually overproduced, and instead of figuring out a way to store the excess, they had been burning it.
[23:52]	IsambardPrince	A discredited UN ecologist claimed that very soon there wouldn't be any coffee because of climate change. Then if course fifty years later, there's plenty of coffee.

[23:55]	IsambardPrince	Someone I know in the Philippines went to Vietnam and he was showing me how there's hundreds of coffee shops on a single street in Hanoi.
