[00:35]	IsambardPrince	Then flush out the system again and refill it with fresh coolant.
[00:36]	IsambardPrince	And a couple crankcase flushes for old oil residue.

[00:36]	IsambardPrince	MinceR, American stuff used to be designed so that it could survive way less than ideal operating conditions, for extended periods of time.

[00:38]	IsambardPrince	MinceR, During the second world war, nobody could compete with the Germans on technical specifications, but tech specs didn't win the war.
[00:38]	IsambardPrince	It was the ability to mass produce things that were reliable and easy to repair, and cheaper to lose.
[00:39]	IsambardPrince	Germany would have been smarter to focus on capturing Soviet tank production and keeping the plants running putting out heavy equipment that they were already building.
[00:40]	IsambardPrince	The German stuff was interesting, in that you saw cases where one German tank could destroy almost 20 Soviet tanks in a single battle, but the Soviets could absorb losses like this.
[00:40]	IsambardPrince	The Germans put too many resources building less stuff.
[00:40]	IsambardPrince	And when it broke down in the field, there was basically no fixing it.
[00:41]	IsambardPrince	You didn't have the tools, or the knowledge, or anything, so if you could just cripple it there was little hope of a field repair.
[00:41]	IsambardPrince	The Germans built the tanks with a lot of armor.
[00:41]	IsambardPrince	That cost them in fuel mileage.
[00:42]	IsambardPrince	I think it was something like 1 gallon of fuel to get the tank about 1 mile.
[00:42]	IsambardPrince	Where some of the American ones were getting several times that.
[00:42]	IsambardPrince	So you had the problem of supplying the tanks with fuel, thus limiting range and where you could field them in the first place.
[00:43]	IsambardPrince	Engineering is like this. To massively improve one thing, you have to accept sacrifices elsewhere.
[00:43]	IsambardPrince	If you make the wrong choices, you could end up with things that are of very little practical use.

[00:45]	IsambardPrince	They didn't exactly build those engines to the highest standards of manufacturing.

[01:41]	IsambardPrince	If what you drive now is still reliable and doesn't have a car payment, you're signing up to put yourself on a torture rack and in a financial sense, what you propose is not ever going to make sense.
[01:41]	IsambardPrince	If you put a car payment into a growth mutual fund and you get the average return on the S&P 500, in 40 years you'll have $10 million, or you can have car payments.

Some are worse than others, but if you buy a new car and finance it at typical bank interest, you take $52,000 and turn it into $18,000 over 5 years.
