[00:12] IsambardPrince If it's from Valvoline I doubt it's going to hurt the engine. [00:12] IsambardPrince A few companies make flush kits that will get some of the sludge out without getting very aggressive and breaking a ton of it loose to go right into a VVT solenoid or the oil pickup. [00:13] IsambardPrince With those you might have to use them a few times. [00:13] IsambardPrince But it's better than trying to evict everything at once and clogging the pickup screen. [00:13] IsambardPrince If there's a lot of sludge in the engine the last thing you want to do is disturb all of it at once. [00:14] IsambardPrince The gentler flushes sort of start cleaning it off in layers. [00:15] IsambardPrince I know Liqui Moly Engine Flush Plus works. [00:15] IsambardPrince The oil that came out was very dark. [00:15] IsambardPrince And the next few oil changes actually had sludge still coming out with the oil. [00:16] IsambardPrince After that it gradually started getting lighter in color at the end of an oil change interval. [00:16] IsambardPrince Now it stays golden brown all the way to the end. [00:16] IsambardPrince No sludge, just a normal "used oil" color. [00:16] IsambardPrince The problem with the Liqui Moly was that it exposed some bad seals and then I had leaks. [00:16] IsambardPrince Had to get them replaced. [00:17] IsambardPrince That's a danger with any engine flush kit, really. [00:17] IsambardPrince The crap on the inside of the seal might have become "the seal". [00:17] IsambardPrince It's hiding a leak, and if you clean it out, there's leaks now. [00:18] IsambardPrince MinceR: I knew a guy who I dated for a while. [00:18] IsambardPrince He got a Chrysler minivan. [00:18] IsambardPrince A Dodge Grand Caravan that had somehow managed to get 470,000 miles on it. [00:18] IsambardPrince It still ran okay. [00:18] IsambardPrince Someone at Jiffy Lube convinced him to pay for an oil sludge flush. [00:19] IsambardPrince After that he couldn't keep oil in it fast enough.
