endsoftwarepatents.org Still Going, Some Good News From Canada

endsoftwarepatents

LAST month we learned about something important at the EPO. The crisis is being widely recognised. That is very good news. Back in July we also learned about attacks on Techrights and we can explain these attacks till next year. "It may be an important step in helping RMS and LT too," said one associate, alluding to Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds. We still have this in the making as it's connected to Sirius. It also helps explain how the Free Software Foundation (FSF) is being attacked.

Weeks ago we mentioned a blow to software patents in Canada. It was noted in passing because Watchtroll was complaining about it (studying the Canada case is a big job, but if Watchtroll is to upset about it, then that's certainly good news*).

It seems like a lot of good things happen without the media covering them at all. Let's try to write more.

* The FSF has swpat.org (now a redirection to endsoftwarepatents.org) and the front page says: "This page was last edited on 11 June 2023, at 06:13." So no update there yet. Nudge endsoftwarepatents.org? If readers are feeding them tips and pointers to relevant events/incidents, maybe it'll get updated?
