The Site Has Gotten Faster, Also in the Publication Sense
Without the clunky interfaces of content management systems we can produce more, faster
AS readers can hopefully see, judging by site archives (over 38,000 WordPress posts converted to static page) or existing (i.e. new) articles, we no longer have categories in this site. We've spared ourselves the trouble of tagging, adding categories etc. This isn't 2003 anymore and we need to focus on what matters most: the content or substance. The omission of all those fields isn't a bug. It would be nice to have, but not a priority and from our point of view that's OK, as it saves time associated with "metadata" input entry. Eventually we can envision about 20 articles/items per day, once the migration tasks are completed (this can take several weeks more). It should be noted we don't have search either, at least not 'natively' (in WordPress the search was never good anyway), but the wiki is better at organising information. We're still working on bringing the wiki back, this time without all the back-end resource hogs. Before migrating and upgrading our wiki was being hammered about 250-500 times per minute, mostly by bots (and this impacted the database, generating high CPU loads).
At risk of sounding like we advocate social control media, one aspect that made it so popular is the speed at which one can post there, not worrying about complicated interfaces, categories etc. Lazy sentences or terse "shitposting" is what it boiled down to, resulting in plenty of misinformation (hearsay and gossip in large quantities, not facts). █
