Mass Layoffs at Microsoft Contractors, Subsidiaries and Proxies in India (About 22,000 Laid Off in a Few Months)

Good riddance to Microsoft resellers and contractors working against the interest/s of their country's people.

ABOUT 15 years ago we wrote many articles about how Infosys, TCS, and Wipro were acting like nothing but Microsoft proxies in India. Even some of Microsoft's own internal infrastructure is outsourced to them. One might think of them as extensions or peripheries working alongside 'Microsoft India' (which also pretends to be Indian for lobbying and tax evasion reasons). Well, those companies have laid off over 20,000 workers in just a few months; this is why we keep reminding people that Microsoft layoffs go far beyond what the media talks about (mostly parroting false or very outdated numbers from Microsoft itself).

We're retaining a screenshot of the English language article below in case it gets vanished (or deleted) some time later. As noted moments ago in the sister site, India's Windows market share is down to 14% this month [1, 2]. There's not much for Microsoft in India anymore; except staff it can hire more cheaply to work longer hours with vastly degraded working conditions. Judging by comments we find in anonymous boards, this vastly lessens morale and makes Microsoft an undesirable employer.

Together, Infosys, TCS, Wipro and HCL Tech have let go of 21,859 employees in Q2FY24. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra and LTIMindtree have increased their headcount by a total of 3,028 employees with the Mahindra company hiring the most.

"To illustrate how someone could react to this mudslinging by Microsoft, I have written a hypothetical complaint titled ‘Microsoft is looting the nation in alliance with Indian IT giants'. While constructing this hypothetical complaint, I have used what I call the ‘Microsoft patented mud-slinging algorithm’. I have included it as a stand alone appendix (Annexure A) to this letter. The purpose is to demonstrate that such complaints and counter complaints would lead all of us to disaster. This hypothetical counter complaint shows Microsoft as working at national and International forums to maintain and enhance its monopoly in global markets, and as attempting to ensure its monopoly strangle-hold on Indian desktop Market. It also paints INFOSYS, TCS, WIPRO and NASSCOM as willfully helping Microsoft in this evil design, and thus acting grossly against Indian National interests."
