UAF Botanical Garden: June 2024 (publ. 2024-06-25)
My family visited the UAF Botanical Garden again last week. I believe it was Tuesday June 18th, although my file names say the 17th. Here are the photos from that trip. I will not bother identifying any of these.

Sewing
I've been getting into sewing clothes (with a sewing machine) a lot recently. It's been nice to do something very offline - normally wheen making stuff I'm watching a youtube video or looking up online references. I bought a few sewing patterns and a lot of different fabric and I've been making stuff completely offline (except when I need to look up a technique). It's also been nice to have some crafting time with my partner, who's usually crocheting or knitting next to me. It seems like every weekend I have a new garment!

Expanding and contracting
These words have been in my head for a while, but a helpful conversation today gave me the energy to write them.

Exploitation
One of my friends worked at a café where the workers were doing better than the owner since they got salaries but the owner’s livelyhood was tied into the success of the café with its ups and downs.
That made me go home and sit and think. And what I found was this: it’s a number’s game.

The incredible power of bullshit
You doubt that an idea is bullshit, but you see that it's well-known, used by many, and promoted by famous people. Is it possible that such an idea is bullshit?
Yes: Bullshit can sometimes spread faster and easier than well‑formed ideas that are supported by facts. Let me explain why by exploring 4 causes and 2 catalysts.

Power Automate and Camping
So basically these two do not have anything to do with each other. In fact, I'm going to write 2 different paragraph. I just couldn't be arsed to make 2 seperate posts ;-).

Humus
My friend Alissa gave me a book for my last birthday and I've only just finished reading it. _The flowering wand: Rewilding the sacred masculine_ is certainly not a book I would have chosen for myself. But it turns out it was a great read. There's a lot I want to talk about and think through from this book and the experience of reading it. But one of those things is that upon finishing it I was immediately siezed by two conflicting thoughts: "I must gempost about this". "I cannot gempost about this".

Bash script to download audio from Youtube
This post is actually about a trick I learned that allows bash scripts to accept input either as a string or from stdin.
Here is the code. It first checks whether at least one argument is provided to the script. If an argument is found it creates a variable containing all the arguments. If no arguments are found, then it waits for input from stdin, which can either come from a pipe or can be typed in after the script is called.
