From Vallorbe to Orbe
We walked and ran from Vallorbe to Orbe, through the Gorge of Orbe, nearly 17km. Both my wife and I took some pictures along the way.

Dune (again)
The ntheenth reading of Dune (I forget when I first read it, possibly no later than the late 1980s) reveals irritations that a younger me glossed over oblivious, like what is a paracompass and why does it have a battery that will drain and break and enough of a battery to mix with the spice and (spoilers?) stabilize a slope with so they can find the missing pack? Needs of the plot, probably; there are simpler compass designs. More glaring is that they can move a Duke, etc, across space so why not collect watery asteroids or move a whole swimming pool? Humans are mostly water, just whip up some transparent aluminum and whoops that's a different universe.

falling asleep
something i'd like to try is a practice owlmoon on youtube calls journeying with deity, something she does before bed. i haven't exactly seen her expand on it (haven't looked yet). i'm pretty sure it's either meditation or trance-work, witchy flight. could be a cool addition to my spiritual practice.

Neuchâtel
We spent two nights in Neuenburg or Neuchâtel. They came under Prussian control in 1707 because the locals were looking for a government that was far away and wouldn't meddle in their affairs. It became a republic and a canton of Switzerland in 1848.
-
Murten
We're spending two nights in Murten or Morat. The lake is small with a circumference of about 25km. A few years ago we ran around it – but today we ran about six or seven kilometres before turning back. 13km is enough, these days. We're both out of shape, sadly.

Thoughts on the information age.
So, I have just eaten my self-made milkshake made from blueberries and bananas. And a greedy thought has come to my mind, that this highly processed food that we buy in our shops, could be replaced by our own self-made food. Well, it doesn't sound like a big discovery at first, it seems rather very obvious to everyone. Even despite the other widely known fact that most of us still go to restaurants, or eat other kinds of shit (drugs, smokes, or some drinks).
However, my interest in this idea went deeper when I also realized that I am 20 years old, and I wouldn't be able to make this drink if I had never been taught how to make a similar thing. I think I belong to the Gen Z people, and as a member of this group, I think that this scheme of not being taught useful skills by our parents may be common. Throughout my life, my parents could teach me things such as reading, writing, math... general hygiene discipline, some social behavior/tricks... and... Honestly I have never thought about it.

Yvonand: Tour du Vallon des Vaux
On the last day, we decided to go for a walk nearby instead of getting on the train immediately. We took the train to Yvonand and turned towards the hills, spending most of our time in the forest. This is route 129.

Ass ass in nation
Isn't it an amazing coincidence that the word 'assassination' broken down to its four constituent words "ass ass in nation" so accurately describes the US presidential race?

Day 1 of the 2024 Old Computer Challenge
This year, I'm trying not to use my smartphone for non-phone stuff (though I'm making exceptions for work-stuff, password-manager-stuff, a few notes and listening to the radio as my FM radio is on the blink), in addition to only using the laptop from last year as my computer.

Sending files via NNCP
Let's assume that you want to send me a file via NNCP. What do you need to do?
-
Exim config for UUCP, NNCP and MSMTP
My laptop doesn't have a static IP number. My mail service provider is not a smart host for my laptop. That's why I've been using `msmtp` to send email from the command line.
