John Pilger's Site Relaunches, Wikileaks' Site Has Not Been Updated in Years
Recent: Peter Eckersley is back (online) (he's also from Melbourne; Pilger is from Bondi, New South Wales)
Every week or so I check the Wikileaks Web site, its "leaks" and "news" sections included. They haven't been changed for so long that one might assume that it's no longer active, except as a Twitter account and archives of old material in a site that loses some pages.
John Pilger is a close friend of Julian Assange and also a fellow Australian who fought stubbornly for Assange's freedom. John Pilger definitely inspired Assange, no less than Julian's own non-biological father (which is why he adopted his surname). When John Pilger died (30 December 2023) we worried that his site, https://johnpilger.com/, had already rotten (that's his official site, not to be confused with https://pilger.net/ and others).
Thankfully, after many months of "rot" (basically it was dysfunctional) the "estate" said: "The family of John Pilger are proud to announce the relaunch of http://johnpilger.com where you can access his articles, watch 64 of his films and read some of the many heartfelt tributes written after his death."
It looks OK and is accessible without loads of proprietary scripts.
We enjoyed many of Pilger's articles and films. He truly spoke truth to power.
We have long hoped that, more so after the release of Assange, Wikileaks will have some kind of "relaunch" or recovery.
Time will tell. Let Assange recover first. █
