A Certain Kind of Light
A question for my fellow bloggers: how many of your posts begin with a deleted paragraph of wondering aloud what to write that day? Because we all have our moments, don't we, when we want or need to write something, but I'm not sure what? I think I'll keep that (this) paragraph in this time.
I had a very frustrating moment related to this the other day. I was out doing some errands, very far from my computer, or even from any place to simply sit down and jot a few notes, and a very nice idea for a little essay popped into my head. It even developed enough to possibly split into two pieces. But I knew that by the time I was able to actually get anything down, it would all be gone. And it seemed to me that this was a pattern that I am at my least imaginative when I am sitting down at a keyboard, or with a pen and paper, and at my most imaginitive when I am far from these things, and occupied with other tasks. I felt like I get my best ideas when I cannot express them, and that my mind goes blank when I have the time and space to get them out. Does anyone else know this frustration?

Finally Made My Runic Calendar
For a little over 3 years now, I have been working on creating a Runic Calendar, a perpetual lunar calendar that takes advantage of the 19 year Metonic cycle of the moon. Runic calendars tended to specify the new moon phase, but I wanted my runic calendar to specify the full moon phases, as Yule, Winternights, and Sigrblot are celebrated on the full moon. More info about Runic calendars can be found at the following Wikipedia article.

Getting started with that open table
It‘s not that easy, unfortunately.
We used a dedicated channel where referees post game dates, and when people say they want to play on that day, the announcement is updated to include their name. If not enough people sign up, the game is cancelled.
There is a social channel that provides community and prevents the server from falling away into ignored-land. Not sure how important that is.

New phlogpost from my Palm TX
After a whole day having several phone calls with our internet provider, what better thing to do than to write another phlog on the Palm? Certainly now that I can hot sync to my old Power Mac G4.
So, this is a kind of unintended ROOPHLOG post, exept that it is written inside, while sittinc on my easy chair.

I want to tell Google to eff off
I'm thinking of deleting my Google account. I've downloaded all my Gmail data. I know I have some services that use my old Gmail address. I need to think about how this might affect my interconnected system of Internet services that have dependencies on my Google account. Changing my email on services still using my Gmail is mostly trivial. I just have to remember/find out what all those services are. I can peruse through my Gmail archive that is mostly spam or unwanted email and see if there are any critical services I'd have to change my email address for. I figure going back about six months through my Gmail archive would suffice. Any entity that doesn't contact me during a six month period likely doesn't have any important tendrils attached, and I probably don't want anything to do with them, either.
I would also lose access to my YouTube account, which is fine, because I don't mind using it without logging in. If need be, I can use Invidious during times when the Invidious devs have the upper hand in the arms race. I can also use it with youtube-dl + VLC or something.
