In September Microsoft Had Several Waves of Mass Layoffs, Even More Than in Prior Months
It meanwhile looks like "open"AI is not only running out of money (to borrow) but also talent and leadership; the bubble is imploding as there's no profit in the 'sacred cow', which is vapourware
Today is the last day of September and so far we've seen about 11 articles about the latest wave of Microsoft layoffs, this one reportedly impacting "Microsoft's mobile division".
The latest 5 articles about it [1-5] are probably not the last. We started seeing reports about it late on Friday, so it seems safe to predict some newsrooms will catch up on Monday.
This isn't the first wave of Microsoft layoffs in September. It's the second or third, depending on how one defines a "wave".
Suffice to say, Microsoft has no future direction to speak of; "open"AI is nonsense and it was nonsense all along. If "open"AI collapses, all the other so-called "AI" companies will too. A ripple effect is guaranteed. █

Activision Blizzard to lay off 400 employees in California after Microsoft merger
Activision Blizzard Inc. will lay off nearly 400 employees across its mobile gaming divisions in California, following last year’s $75.4 billion merger with Microsoft Corp. The company is eliminating these positions to reduce redundancies created by the merger.
According to filings with the California Employment Development Department (EDD), the layoffs are set to impact operations from Northern California’s Novato and Foster City to the company’s Southern California offices. This adds to the 1,003 jobs already cut by Activision in the past year.

Activision Blizzard faces more layoffs
We had sincerely hoped that the 1,900 layoffs carried out by Microsoft in January and the subsequent 650 in September would be the last to affect the company. But unfortunately, that is not the case, as it has now been announced that an additional 400 people are being let go, this time from Microsoft's mobile division.
