EPO is Blasting Its Own Foot (There Will be No EPO Left)
TOMORROW we'll publish something new about the EPO, as per this necessary teaser. It serves to show how the EPO either destroys the health of its staff or drives away the staff (who merely try to survive). This necessarily means that the EPO won't be able to grant valid patents. In due course, the expectation from European Patents will be, they're presumed invalid (or easy to squash), by "default"... hence, their value is lessened, too.
As we're generally against European software patents - i.e. patents which are both illegal and undesirable - we don't entirely mind the EPO discrediting itself. Sure, it will be bad for staff if this carries on, but the credibility of the Office is always (and for over a decade already) circling down the toilet. There are excellent sayings or proverbs to that effect. Among them:
"Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt."
"Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across."
"The whole secret lies in confusing the enemy, so that he cannot fathom our real intent."
Then there is the quote, attributed to the same source, "never interrupt an opponent while he is making a mistake."
"That's cherry-picking," an associate has said on a related matter, "but IMHO relevant."
If the EPO carries on shooting its own foot, there will be nothing left of it, nor will the fake kangaroo courts (notably UPC) survive. The ramifications are profound, the consequences severe, and the effect far-reaching (if the EPO's corruption spreads to the European Union (EU), then the EU and thus the UPC might go under).
Now, common wisdom says, don't tell them that they damage themselves. But it seems inevitable and unstoppable already. The problem is that in the meantime they also cause tremendous damage by breeding patent trolls that hurt European SMEs.
We're pro-EU, but if the EU adopts practices like the Kremlin's, we need to make noise about it. █
